One day, my xbox decided to stop working. i played it in the morning, turned it off, ate some lunch, and then came back, turned it on, and the dashboard was messed up. i didn't touch anything or mess with any settings. it booted up ok, but when it displayed the menu, it was missing a bunch of options like Games, DVD2XBOX, Skins, etc. every menu item was gone except for the following: MS Dashboard, Reboot, Power Off, Settings, and Backup. When I boot MS Dashboard, all my saved games are still there, so i dont think its a problem with the HDD. I have an Xecuter chip. I dont know much about modding, so i dont know what other info i can provide. this is the first problem i have had with my box.
any ideas? i wouldn't mind reinstalling everything, even if it means losing all my saved game data. i just want a fully funtional dashboard again, my poor DVD ROM is working so hard to read the DVDRs.
If i just got AID and put that in, would it still auto install even though i already have evox installed?
all help and info is appreciated

do you have FTP setup between pc and xbox.
I would think the evox.ini file is either missing or corrupted.
boot the AID disk and use the built in file explorer to edit/create the evox.ini
you could alternatively install unleashx or another hacked dash of ur preference. You dont need the softmod installer as you have a modchip

ok, so i dl'd AID 3.1 and burned it to dvd and loaded it up on the xbox. thought i would just get rid of evox and put on unleasx since you guys are saying evox is outdated.
First, i backed up my C, which is where evox is, to E\Backup. then i follow the directions on pg 45 of Auto-Installer.Deluxe.v3.10.Manual.pdf. as per the instructions, i format C, and then try to install MS Dash again. i get Error 2, which i find is eeeprom check failed. what do i do to fix this?
so then i restored my E\Backup to C. Tried just installing unleashx directly there to C, and it says its extracting E\backup\C\backup\eeeprom.bin, and then gives a blank error.
please let me know if i'm going about this all the wrong way or what i can do to fix all of this. thanks for all help
