Ive been reading about mythtv... first off, is it free? I need to get this straight. With mythtv i can watch tv on my xbox, and can record some tv and fastforward, pause, and rewind? Is it for a 1.6b xbox? If anyone knows a site that has the installation instructions i would appreciate it. Are there any other programs i need on my xbox to get it running??

I also hear theres a mythtv for the pc. so like i said before, i can watch tv and record on my pc?

Myth is intended to be run on a PC using a *nix OS. It can be compiled and run on the xbox in way of one of the xbox linux flavors. You will need to install and configure linux, as well as a USB video capture card with drivers that will work on the xbox. I really suggest getting a memory upgrade if your going to do though.

I've used MythTV on my pc before, and it requires some high end specs than the xbox has to preform decently as a "back-end."

It could do a very good job as a "front end," but you'd need to set up another pc somewhere to serve content.

Oh, and remember, you need to get the content from somewhere... MythTV is NOT and internet tv service. It's just a DVR+++. You still need a cable/satellite connection, and a capture card to put it onto your computer.

You can read all about it here, just remember it's not exactly for the feint of heart. Familiarity with linux would go a long way in the install process.
