I did realize it's not necessary. I just happen to have one here but I don't have a spare straight cable. Little late to be out shopping for cables

Some older routers and hubs have a port set aside that will usually be marked uplink or Xlink or may have a switch next to the port marked with an x or -

Ya know, that had crossed my mind Rabid1, but it's been so long since I've seen one like that, I just kind of blew it off. However, it's a good thought to check on twoskinsoneman. Might save a little $. Put it toward a new 360 game or something.

some routers have a x-over port and some newer ones are auto sensing and will switch internally to the proper port

Play it safe and stick to the through and through cable. Crossover is used if ur connecting ur XBOX directly to ur PC.
