Does using an ATA 133 cable actually make the xbox loading a bit faster? What cable does the xbox originally have in it? Does it make a big difference if replaced or a little difference .. plz explain... THANKS.

it really makes no differnce, as the ata cable is unnessary to upgrade, your better off adding more memory and upgrading cpu.

the ata133 cable is only usefull if you have an ata133 IDE controller. Sadly the xbox does not have an ata133 IDE controller (in fact doubt its even ata66).

tdawg1978,

upgrading memory is basically getting a bigger sized harddrive. Upgrading the cpu requires installing more ram. Doesn't make a difference in gaming but improves the xbox as a pc. For example, linux is faster and stuff. Right now the xbox has 1 x 64MB ram chip in it. You can buy 4 more chips and solder them, increasing the ram to 4 x 64mb. So the total ram is 5 x 64 mb = 320 mb of ram!! You need to get yourself a copy of xbox repair guide (not pirated), and 4 ram chips which can be found here, solder iron, good solder skills.

if you gona buy performance upgrade like that, you might also want to consider buying a stick on heat sink for the nvidia chip avaliable at llamma.com.

Wow, thats wrong. Upgrading memory is adding more RAM, not a bigger hard drive. This is done by soldering 4 more(for a total of Cool 100pin 16MB memory chips to the mother board, and increases the RAM from 64 to 128. Upgrading the processor is just that: replacing the processor with one with a bigger cache.

oh thanks for clearing that up greven,

so u can only upgrade the ram to 128 mb? I am sorry, I never read the repair guide properly. Installing 4 chips gets only 64 mb more. so u can only basically get to 128 mb.
