Anyone getting the UFC PPV tonight?

I always do, so it's a no-brainer here, but was curious to what any other UFC fans thought of the card.

I took a look at the card and to be honest don't know much about eight of the fighters that are fighting tonight, however it's always nice to see the Iceman in action and Sobral is no slouch. Sobral, if he can get Chuck to the ground can very well win. Liddell has an incredible take down defense, so I am wondering if Sobral has made some adjustments in effort to get him down.

When Randy "The Natural" got Liddell down he dominated him on the ground. The main reaso Couture lost the last two bouts against Liddell was because he couldn't get him down and ended up getting popped. Chuck can put anyones lights out with one punch. He's the first guy I ever saw knock someone out while backing up...lol.

Josh Neer and Nick Diaz fight can be an interesting one. Both are very good punchers. Diaz has a sick ground game, but Neer is no slouch on the ground. They are very evenly matched, albeit Diaz has a bit more experience.

Then of course we have the rematch everyone has been waiting for. Griffin VS. Bonnar. Both are coming off of losses. What I like about this fight is, you will get a good idea of which fighter has come along more in the last year and a half. They were extremely evenly matched when the first fought at the Ultimate Fighter Season One Finale. I missed the fight between Griffin and Ortiz, but even though Griffin lost a lot of people think he won. Bonnar recently dropped a match to the winner of Season Three Ultimate Fighter and in my opinion hasn't been dominant in the few fights I have watched him in.

Also, the big announcement that in October there will be a free fight on Spike TV between Ortiz and Shamrock since the last fight on PPV ended in controversy. This was billed as the biggest announcement in UFC history and I was thoroughly let down when I heard it.

A few days ago when I was watching Ultimate Fighter: Season Four "the comeback" I was dying to know what the fight announcement was going to be last night and when they announced that a has been was going to fight an almost has been, I was depressed. Granted it's free...but hell after the last announcement (Matt Hughes VS. Royce Gracie) I was expecting something more. Personally I dont know how you can trump the fact that Royce Gracie was coming out of retirement to fight the most dominant UFC Welterweight in history, but shit... I was hoping it could be done.

I think Hot NUDE UFC chicks battling in baby oil would come close...but, I cant think of a match out there that can hit the hype that Hughes/Gracie did.

The UFC has grown in leaps and bounds, which is the reason for a lot of new unknown fighters on the card tonight. The UFC is coming real close to taking over boxings status in main-stream sports. Look for huge deals on ESPN, FOX SPorts and other sport networks in upcoming years. Spike jumped on first, and has been reaping the benny's every since.

It's only a matter of time before someone offers UFC big money to have some exclusive rights. Who knows, maybe HBO someday will have Friday Night UFC or something like that in the near future, as they do with boxing.
