I have put in my solderless 2.6 ce in a 1.2 version Xbox, seems fine. Have a 40 gig hard drive installed, blank, old drive is a paperweight no files to retrieve. Get the screen ready to flash, X3 bios, and I cannot get the the correct choice highlighted to flash via cd rom. In fact I cannot move the highlight to move at all. It stays on flash from hd. How do I move the cursor. Put the controller in every spot but dont do anything different. It is not a factory controller brand new aftermarket, could that be an issue? Any ideas would be great. I never owned a console before got this one busted from some guys who was gonna swing it into a block wall causeit did not work. Help a brother out.

Do you have another controller that you can try?
If you can, I would advise a network install via HTTP, as this is a really, really easy method or flashing.
Is the controller wireless? If it is, check your batteries _________________

Yep, like Greven said yo can http the bios to the chip from the OS menu. You just need to type the ip address for your xbox in the address bar and flash from there. _________________

I have but one wired controller. I did not think I could HTTP the box from my PC without a working drive or the ability to move the highlight up and down the menu. You do use the controller to move and select options correct? I know you guys are weary of US noobs with bizzare questions but I have not found this kind of info in the forums or tutorials. Thanks for the support!

The copy of FlashBIOS that I have ( 3.0.1 ) has "Enable Network Flashing" as the preselected option, all I have to hit is A. If this is the copy of FlashBIOS you have, you can try that.
If that doesn't respond, do you have anyway to test is the controller works? Any buddies that you can try it on their xbox, or have them bring one of their controllers over?
Last thing you could try would be to reflash the bank with a 3.0.1 if you have a programmer, but I assume you don't. _________________
Ok bought a factory controller, can move around the menu now. Can http xbox and pc fine but I cannot get the flash to happen. Error messege is Unknown Flash halting via http and just ejects the cd or dvd after a period of time asking for the correct disk. It has been this way with whichever version bios I try out. I know it's me, just missing something in the tutorials somehow.
I tried with DVD and CD-r followed the nero tutorial and made sure the seettings were correct for burning and it appeared so. Which version and file name do I want. Do I need to use XBtool to set up the bios to 1024?
Thanks for your help again and I know I should be able to figure this out as your tutorials forums are a great resource. I am just not getting something somewhre along the way.

Lol, funny you should say this, as I had the same halting error you did. Turns out I had flash protection turned on Make sure its off and try to flash with HTTP again, and it should work fine. _________________

The latest version is x3 3294. It comes with the AID disk if you've downloaded it. _________________
