I realize that this has probably been asked before but the other forum posts I found really didn't offer any answers.

I've currently got a v1.0 XBOX modded with an Alladin Advance Live chip and an 80GB hard drive with a bunch of crap on it.

What I'd like to do is upgrade it with a spare 120GB drive I have lying around to AID, but I'm unsure as to the best way to proceed. I've got a system with pull-out drive bays so connecting the drives to the PC is no problem.

What I'd like to do is hook both drives up to the PC then somehow install or "pre-install" AID to the new 120GB disk and then copy the rest of the data from disk to disk with a utility.

So can anyone help me out here?

Thanks in advance.

Hello, and welcome to xbox Hq.

First of all, AID will have to be burnt to a cd or dvd, as it will not work off the harddrive. Once you get a copy of AID downloaded and burnt from a torrent or the vip servers (vip members only), you just install your new harddrive, pop in the AID disk, prepare your hard drive, install your dashes and applications, and enjoy the space of your new harddrive. No need to connect the harddrive to a PC.

I got that, but how do I get the data (games, savegames, etc.) from the old drive to the new drive?

you put the old drive in the xbox, and ftp into the xbox and copy what you want to your computer, then you take the new hdd upgrade and put it in the xbox and ftp all your stuff back over to the xbox and then you should have all your game saves, etc.

Exactly.. HB. Smile

Detailed Process:
1. Ftp a backup of the entire old xbox hard to your pc..
- Since your xbox is already modded this wont be difficult at all

2. Burn AID to a DVD-R/CDRW

3. Install your new larger HDD
- Make sure the jumper settings match those of the old xbox hdd you are pulling out..

4. Boot your xbox with AID in the DVDROM drive.. it will auto format your drive.

5. Install M$ Dashboard onto your C: drive

6. Install a Hacked Dashboard of your choice
- normally install to E:\ or F:\ if you have a bios that supports that otherwise only install to C:\

7. Install whatever apps you need an want
- install apps , emulators or what you will.

8. Lock the new HDD if you are going to be using it with XBOX LIVE.
- To lock use CONFIG MAGIC or other locking programs.

DONE DONE AND DONE!

btw.. keep the old harddrive handy so if you ever have any probs you can revert back to it..

regards,

hobbs

Thanks everybody, after doing some digging I basically figured it out. I guess what I was looking for was a PC utility that could transfer the files via IDE etc. That would be a lot faster. I've been using XBMC a lot more lately and I have a lot of stuff to back up.
