Hello everyone! I'm very new to the XBox modding community. Heres my situation.......
I used the Splinter Cell exploit (which i found all of the program to put together, and tuts on how to turn my regular USB flash drive into a memory card ) Everytime i tried to do somthing through the linux dist with it, it would make my screen flicker and turn green. I could tell it was doing something on the screen because each flicker the wording would change. When i could notice no difference in the lettering, i would wait 10-15 min, then shut off/reboot the system. Well, it then launched me into the EvoX dash.
My Problem: Well i was copying files over to the dashboard (after i had copied everything over from the XBox to my PC) And the power went out. Which wouldnt have bothered me, except for when i rebooted the system. It flickers in the MS dashboard for about 1-2 seconds, and then it comes to a screen with a 21 in the top left corner of the screen, saying "Service Required".
I trie to fix it, but i was unable to telnet OR FTP my way back in. I can play games and access my XBox HD through the games, but I am UNABLE to acces any dashboards.....
Any ideas?

I didnt happen to catch my kernel numbers.... i wrote them down, but cant seem to find them.
My XBox is running the Samsung DVD reader.
IS there something i can do (without costing an arm and a leg) to do to fix this problem? Or is my XBox gone?
I read about the hotswapping....which sounds pretty complicated, but i was unsure of being able to copy the backup i have onto the unlocked XBox HD...

you might have used the pal version of the splinter cell exploit. if you can still play games then I would get the right exploit and reapply the softmod

hotswap will fix the error 21 if you cant remod the xbox, just click my sig for the hotswap tutorial. _________________

Ok thanks guys, im going down to Sears in a few to buy the TorX bits so i can open my XBox. I have Slayers all downloaded, and the Linux live cd starts up in my cp. Thanks

Ive tried everything i can think of to unlock the HD, but when i use slayers, it says HD is locked! Any ideas on how to overcome this?

Yup you have to a get a chip or b get a program to unlock the drive (ten bucks web site somewhere here) _________________ The mighty V6 Passat came to chew bubble gum and kick%^* and shes all out of bubble gum!

Diregard that last post, i managed to get my HD unlocked via loaing up Splinter cell, and unplugging the HD during the load screen.
Now, next problem..... Ive been searching for 3 or 4 days now on finding these dashboards and files. Any ideas on where i can find them?
When i Make HD From Scratch, off of the Slayers disk, it errors out because i forgot to add the files it requires. I would like to download a MS Dash and the files it requires... If its possible

Voila! I managed to reformat the XBox HD and now it works perfectly. Now moving onto my next question....
I would like to be able to load a custom Dashboard again(Whether its EVox or whatever) How would i go about this. I tried to use the Splinter Cell exploit again, when it activated, it went to the 21 error service screen, so i rebooted, and it when back to the MS Dashboard

Ok, for future reference, i love this whole XBox modding thing! Anyways, i used SID 4.5i believe, through the Splinter Cell exploit. I also installed the EvoX dashboard, and now im all set and ready to go
