ok, I just installed gentoox home v3.2 on my box but I don't know how to do some basic functions on it. First, how do you change the date and time? I've been pounding my head because I can't find a link anywhere for this. The default date is 12/31/2011. This means that every internet certificate is expired and I can't look at anything.
Is there a manual or guide with a list of executable commands or at least an overview of Gentoox available somewhere? I must admit, I've never used Linux, but was drawn to it for xbox because of its functionality. However, right now there is no functionality. All the tuts I can find are about installing the program, with the assumption that you'll know how to use it already.
Thanx. _________________ lata playa

I wish i knew.. Im not a big linux head either..
Thought id bump your topic active so others see it.
I'm retarded, I just had to switch to KDE because more options are available in this mode. All the standard right-click button functions work in KDE although it runs much slower. Right now I am having a problem installing downloaded software however. I've downloaded a flashplayer program fro linux but when I click on it, it won't install. It just brings up a text screen of the program script. I tried to run the command "emerge [program path/filename]" but it didn't work. It just listed a few error messages about incorrect file tree bla bla.
If anyone has any insight on how to install programs from within Gentoox, please let me know. The web browser is not very useful without flash as most sites use this. Ideally, I'd like to be able to view streaming video from the Xbox.
I'm also looking to upgrade the Xbox RAM to 128 MB. I've heard this is somewhat difficult. Has anyone done this?
Thanks for keeping the thread active, dude. You're a winner _________________ lata playa

I hope you don`t mind me using your thread as an experiment<
I`m running the new 4.0 home version and I`m making my
first post with the firefox brouser that comes with it.
I have to say that I`m really impressed so far (unlucky ms)
I`m not expecting to get my head round all of it anytime soon
but I managed to rip some of my audio cd`s and mount some
that I already had on the hdd.
I must admit that I have only run it on an old stock hdd that
I had kicking around
still. Good excuse to trow another hdd in my pc cased beast.
