lol hi my friend got his xbox modded but he doesnt know if its a soft mod or hard mod when it starts up it says evox beside the microsoft sign and it goes to the ms dashboard (the main xbox dash) but it still plays copy games need help

There's no way for use to tell unless you post a pic of the motherboard. It sounds like a tsop flash or modchip. _________________

omg it looks like when u first get ur xbox with no softmod or hardmOd but when it starts it says xbox in big words then microsoft and beside it it says evox

Take a look at the bottom of the machine. If the screw holes under the serial number and other sticker are cut-out it could definitely be chipped. Some chips have quick boot modes where the chip autolaunches the hacked bios when you power on the xbox instead of going to an OS or something.
It can also be a TSOP flash if it was open too.
All you have to do is remove the two visible screws and then the four screws that are hiding under the rubber feet at each of the four corners.
Once you pop off the top, you have three more smaller screws to remove. One is in the middle between the DVD drive and HD. The other two are on the front corners of the DVD drive.
Once you have those smaller torx screws out of the way, just pull out the HD tray and then DVD tray and look on the board for a mod chip.

wella ctually, the previous owner could have just downloaded it from a copy of oldschool mech assault and action replay. no opening up boxes.

I believe that if it is chipped it should load to the chip OS menu, not directly to the dash. _________________
