my xbox is currenty not working (error 16)

i tried the hotswap tutorial with no luck Sad

i have here a spare 80gb seagate hard drive, which is in the compatible hard drives list...

how would i go about formatting it, getting the right files on etc?

could i simply use xboxhd to do it?

yes but you will need the eeprom .bin to lock it

Or, you can just pop a chip in your machine and your 80 GB HD can be easily locked using your chips tools, Evox tools, or AID for that matter.

This is another reason I like to keep a solderless chip laying around. Or, if you want something a bit more permanent just solder a chip in. You can always still remove the chip if you want at a later time. Just slide it off the pin header and re-use or sell it off.
