Sorry, this is a total newbie question and must have been asked a lot before, but I just want to make sure (also for the Mac guide I'm putting together): is it always safe to try to load SID3.1/4.5? I'm not talking about installing it here, just trying to load it. Is it possible to damage the Xbox just by doing this?
What if the wrong version of the game is used?
What if you only copy the SID loader but forget to copy the SID installer?
I've also read the Action Replay memory cards are not always reliable, what if part of the memory gets corrupted. SID may load properly, but some of the files it will install might be corrupted. Or is there some sort of hash integrity check done?

Definately not.. Its ok to load the exploiit but ifyou try to install it and upgrade your xbox there may be some risk.. But your xbox is always recoverable.. We have tutorials here that cover just about everything.
Thats why modchips are always good.. With a modchip no matter what happens you can always boot AID (auto installer deluxe) http://www.aideluxe.com and then reinstall whatever you need.
With a softmod you sometimes have to do whats called a hotswap if you run into errors and cant revert to a restore.

The exploit (softmod) will not boot to the main menu screen where you can choose to install the softmod etc.

It depends if you have a older action replay or a new one i believe.. But dont quote me on that.. I dont know everything lol
