I have been thinking about upgrading bioses (using 4977 FC) but can't seem to find much describing the difference between 4983.06 and .67. I decided to go a head a try to see what happened but neither boot off the F partition. I tried using XBTool, but couldn't change the boot sequence.

If someone could explain the difference between .06 and .67 I would appreciate it.

Also, is it ok to have evox on C while also using oem dash with Live? I like having all the mod files on F while leaving C untouched. I'll put evox on C if no harm will be done and if 4983.06/67 is a better bios than 4977.

hey cheez_puf,

I think for xbox live its best to leave your XBOX C:\ Partition untouched.. I have heard that when you connect to the xbox live service it now scans your bios and also your XBOX HDD for any changes in the C:\ parititon..

I always say. If your xbox is working and playing everything how it should why would you want to upgrade your bios..??

Best way to have yuor xbox setup is to boot evox from the f:\ drive..

Anyway, thats up to you.. I dont know the differences mate but im sure there will be some.. Hope someone else knows the answers..

cheers and talk soon,

You bring up a good point there mate!

I have been configuring Evox to boot from C drive as that is how mine was made and has always and still works great for me. I am an avid xbox liver and have yet to run into any issues.

But, making EvoX boot from F is a very good idea in lieu of a lot of issues that I have been hearing about.

If you set up EvoX to be on the F drive, what do you have to do to the bios? I use 4983.67 and by default does it not look to the C drive for the evox dash files?

This could make a good tutorial if one isn't in existence here.

Oh, and I think the differences between the two bios' are the size of HD's they support. I know the 4983.67 supports larger than 160GB HD's, does the other?

Later man

We are supposed to be able to use xbtool to change where the bios looks for a dash. I'm not sure how to do this since the boot sequence options are greyed-out when I load 4983.4977 seems to work just fine so I will stick with it.

So is this "Xbox Live scans the C partition" still in the rumor stage? This freaks me out!

I use 4981.06 and 4983.06... they both support at least 250GB HD.

yeah, I know what you mean Xboxter...

You know, I am so tired of xbox live rumors...

I don't consider myself to be a lucky soul at all and I have been on xbox live numerous times (my evox files are all on C) and I have not been banned.

Now, I am sure that MS has the capability to read what's on our HD. As sure as I am that the FBI records all XBL conversations...isn't that a thought! Would love to sit in on those meetings!

MS can ultimately ban whom ever they want, but with XBC in effect, XBOX Next just around the corner, and the huge increase in modded machines, I think that they will stick to banning people who are logging in with modchip enabled and just leave everyone else alone.

With that said, I'll probably get banned tonight... Laughing

The rumour about Xbox Live scanning C and E Drive could be possible, hence why a lot of people are going for a "stealth" boot.

The stealth looks at F Drive for EvoX etc. instead of having it installed to C Drive.

Im currently in the process of making an archive with about 18 different BIOS CDs, including bios'es with stealth settings. These files will ofcourse also be available in the upcoming auto-installer I'm developing.

Also, the latest X2 BIOS you can have stleath on is 4981, as 4983 can not be edited to do this. I've been looking into to coz I wanted to add 4983 to my auto-installer, but since it doesn't allow modifying I might have to exclude it...

Hope this adds some light into this discussion...

Also quickly, I'd use a xxxx.67 BIOS because it will still read HDDs under 136 GB Smile
