Ok, here it goes. I got a 200gig hard drive that i want to put into my xbox and get the crappy factory drive out. I am having problems with my iso burns.....I dont know whats going on, I have used 3 different iso programs, 3 different burners, and still can not create a good workable boot cd. I had a softmod on my xbox prior to the larger hard drive purchase. HERE is the question of the day (i only say this, coz i have yet to see anyone ask it)......I have all of my files from the original backed up on my pc hard drive........why cant I put my new hard drive into my pc and transfer those files from my pc hard drive onto the new hard drive that i plan on putting into my xbox?????? Then take the drive off my computer and place it back into my xbox. Is there some source code or some kind of partitioning that the pc will do that the xbox will not like? I think this will be easier for me.....coz I have wasted about 5 cd-r's and 4 dvd-r's trying to get a workable boot cd.

Thanks for the great info. Everything worked like the tutorial said it would. I have got one problem........i put the new formatted hd in the xbox and powered it up, and I get the error code 5 (hd not locked). Like i said before, I only had a softmod, not a modchip. Am I screwed? I realize the XBOX HardDrive Maker program has the lock/unlock tool (option 3), but theat will only lock my new hd with the motherboard in my pc, right? Is there a program i can download and put into the xboxROM drive that will unlock it? Thanks again for you assistance......

i dont know if you got your new hd to work or not but , if you download xboxhdm1.9 then transfer pirrups ms dash to the xhdm C folder then transfer your EEPROM.bin to its EEPROM folder click make iso win burn it change boot order so it reads from cd drive first save settings remove pc hd put the linux disc in put new xbox hd to work on build the partitons once done reboot and go to lock utilities and type in lockhd -a and then pop it on your xbox and you got a working xbox...
note: the hd must be lockable... have you cheked if it is? _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

Thanks for the help gentlemen.........I got it to work. I am now restoring the saved information (e drive) onto my new hd. Since I got a 200gig hd, I have read several places that my xbox evox dash will only recognize 137gig and if I want to utilize the rest I will need to use a program called UnleashX, is this still the case, I read this in a forum posted about 2yrs ago. Is there anything special I need to do with the new hd for arranging a place for the games? Since it appears that the F drive is the largest, will I need to change on how my evox recognized the location of the games? I know I am asking a ton of questions.......basically I need to know:
1.) Will I need to do something special to utilize the full 200gig of my hd
2.) Do I need to rearrange my folder system so evox can save my games to a recogizeable area
If there is answers or a "Good" forum/post that can answer these please advise......much props/kudos to all you smart guys out there........

btw with chimp what menu's did you run ? (only option 1?)
