Yup, use AID 3 to install the MS Dash.

It seems like the internal battery is dead, not even sure that the xbox has one but that's what a pc will do when it's battery goes dead.

Sjohn, for the record there is no internal battery there are however several gel capacitors (expensive for the time) that retain the a charge for several hours creating a "battery effect" after being unplugged. I remember reading about it on Bunnie's webpage.

They cannot hold the charge indefinitely unfortunately causing the time screen to come up. Maybe your capacitors are losing their resiliency (spelling?) meaning, it might be doing the job properly while its on, but it may dissipate the charge instantaneously when its off. This is all just thoughts about the possible problem with the "battery".

But i think personally its a software issue.

EDIT: Sorry didn't finish reading through the whole thread....problem solved. Laughing

So I lied. The problem is not gone. I thought it was fixed, but after leaving the xbox unplugged overnight, I had to set the clock. Turned the xbox off, turned it back on, and had to set the clock again. What is the problem here? It's not just one xbox either, It's happened with a few different xboxen. Driving me crazy...

I would recommend getting a copy of AID3 with the latest update pack as of now 3.01, use this disk in order to format and reisntall your ms dash so that you have a brand new hard drive basically. It's a bit dangerous to format it, make sure you have your eeprom.bin file saved on your computer before attempting just incase a power surge or something happens and turns the xbox off, what you will want to do is get the eeprom.bin so that if anything does go wrong you can fix it using XboxHDM better safe than sorry ya know.

Then once you get that backed up, just pop in AID, format retail hard drive, then install the MS Dash, I believe the latest version is 5960 it'll be the biggest number, make sure you don't install the hacked dash, just the plain one. Once done here, you can go in and directly install the softmod files to the hard drive location, then pop in splintercell and it should work for you.

I just can't stress how important it is to backup your eeprom from the e:\udata\<gamesave number for splinter cell>\ directory, djb or nknave can tell you a bit better about exactly where it is, I think the information is also available in the documentation that came with SID.

Basically we're eliminating any possibility of a software problem by getting rid of all of the software and installing new original copies.

I exoerienced the same problem when I first started modding boxes. The problem is you softmodded a dash that is older than 5960. My recommendation is to pop in a live disc and connect to Live, that will update the dash and you can then re-mod the box and not have the clock issues. The beauty of softmodding is you can always start over(as long as you backup the HD key). Good Luck!

Before popping in the game and going on live, please make sure to uninstall the softmod, would hate for you to get banned by trying to update, I think you can hit Xbox Live when you have the ethernet unplugged on some of the older games, my recommendation is to try halo 2 pretty sure it has 5960.

@X1z0r and sjohn: Thank you for the straight answers. Will try the softmod with updated dash and see what happens. I will keep you posted.

yes for what i understand halo2 can update yoru dash to 5960. also if your xbox is somehow modded then just use aid 3 and put the latest ms version... so if your saying " i cannot mod it " because sid 4 wont let me then just put sid 2 or so then do all that . but yeah what the guys said maybe the best thing.

SID 4 relies on the Virtual C Drive, so if you have SID 4 installed you need it.

I updated the dash, 5960.....and still the clock shows up everytime I power on. Would it be the kernel ? Mine is 4817.01. To install SID 2, I need to remove SID 4.5 obviously, but will I be able to keep everything that's on the HDD, or will I need to install it again.

SNTP is the acronym for Simple Network Time Protocol, which is an adaptation of the Network Time Protocol (NTP) used to synchronize computer clocks in the Internet.

SNTP time servers are ideally stand alone systems used by computers to receive time from a time source. The SNTP server then sets and synchronizes the time on a computer IT system or enterprise.

To disable it you just simply set it to manual.
