I have softmodded 5 xboxen using the SID 4.5. 4 of them ask me to set the clock everytime I turn them on. At first I figured I had forgotten to set the clock before doing the softmod, but then I started paying attention and setting it, turning the xbox off and making sure it didn't ask for the time when I turned it back on. Once modded, they ask for the time every boot. With both dual boot and single boot mods, it asks me for the time. After doing the softmod, I use XBMC for the dash, installed with AID 3. What the hell am I doing wrong? I know I can IGR to get past the MS dash, but i shouldn't have to. Please help, this is driving me crazy!!

Personally i havent started using 4.5 yet.. Im still only running SID 4.0 which is much more simple for those people i know who want it.. I still install modchips more.. lol
Dont quote me on this but it could be maybe a small bug in 4.5 but you would have to speak with nknave or some other members here currently using it...
I do not have a issue ever with 4.0 but i dont use XBOX LIVE or suggest it.. SID 4.5 does support XBOX LIVE cloaking so you can still have your modded stuff and get on without a ban...
Theres just so much..
Anyway, Im a modchip man myself. Just hang about for some more softmod guys to answer..

Is it after every reboot? Or is it only after leaving the xbox unplugged for a while? It seems like the internal battery is dead, not even sure that the xbox has one but that's what a pc will do when it's battery goes dead. Have you tried to remove the softmod and see if the xbox will do the same thing with a standard dashboard and such? Go through the same steps in order to test one with the softmod completely removed, if it doesn't reset the clock you know it's definitely with the softmod and not with the xbox, at that point I would recommend trying to redownload the package just incase something was corrupted and try the softmod again.
It's pretty hard to diag this problem but we can start with the most simple things first and then work up to what might be a little more difficult. _________________

It only asks for the clock after the softmod. It holds the time just fine without the softmod. Perhaps I will have to get the SID 4.0, although I do like the xboxlive option. If you can think of anything else it might be, that would great.

SID 4.5 is what you'd be looking for. With this version it still does block Xbox Live while you're in the softmodded boot, however if you set up the Ndure feature you can boot the Xbox with your DVD Eject button and have it completely ready for Live.

People have said that SID 3 / 3.1 can cause it, however I've personally never experienced it.

Any ideas on how to fix it? I've done the install a few times, and all but one have done this.

If you want to fix it then you have to get a modchip, but I think with sid 4.0 and 4.5 its was intentionally left like that, I cant remember the exact reason why. Just set the time and leave the xbox plugged in. _________________

I set the time and leave it plugged in. When I say the clock needs to be reset, I mean I set the time, turn it off, then turn it on again right away, and immediately have to set the clock again. Wether it's turned off for a second or a day, the time needs to be reset everytime I boot it up. What possible reason would the makers of SID want people to set the clock every time they boot up?

That means your having a clock loop problem in other words you setting the clock is not gonna take unless you keep at it setting it over and over for awhile, or try turning off the Xbox and booting with a manufactured audio CD (not CD-R or RW) in the drive. This can often get you past the error and put you into the clock setting screen, although occasionally it won't.
Try putting a DVD while it's looping, then turn it off, then on, you get the clock dialog. Set the clock to the current date, and such then start it.
Also try using the xbox remote, put in a REAL DVD and let the xbox try and load the clock, while it does so, keep pressing menu and title on the remote quickly and many times, the clock should load after about 2 minutes.
Another possobility is to unplug the power on your XBox and hold the eject or power button and plug the power cable back in. It may take a few trys to have an effect. _________________

Thank you for the tips!! Thus far, none of them are working, but I'm gonna keep trying. I thought that the beauty of SID 4.5 was there was no worry about clock loop. That's why I got it. If anyone else has ideas, please put them forth. This xbox is for a friend who was in a car accident. The only way to get past the msdash into XBMC is to do IGR, and that is very difficult for him due to the accident.

Right you are, it was frustrating to say the least! To install MS again, can I just use AID 3 and select install MSdash? Just asking first so I don't do it and end up trashing the dash files.
