It all started with a ERROR 7. My HD went bad. I did not get a backup of my HD so I don't have any eprom info. I install a X-Changer 2.5 MOD CHIP. After I put the chip in I got ERROR 16. ( No software on HD).

I was able to build my HD from scratch. I used Xboxhdm v1.9 to build my HD. I was unable to get the AID 3.0 to self load. I FPT the C: file and burned it to a CD from my friends xbox. Now I get a ERROR 5 ( HD not locked).I can't lock Hd with no eprom info.I did not load any thing into the E: or F: partitions.

This what I see on my XBOX. At the main X-Changer screen .
1.Boot Original Bios when I select this I get ERROR 5
2. Boot Bank A (256k) When I select this nothing happens except it reboots box
3. Boot Bank B (512k) when I select this nothing happens ececpt it reboots.
4.Advance Menu If I select this I get the following.
A. Linux boot menu
B. LED control menu
C. Video setting
D. HDD menu
E. Flash menu
F. Reset menu

I flashed the Bios via the network. I also unzip the OS from AID 3.0 and burned a CD and loaded this. When I completed these actions I got no errors. so I think I'm ok.

I think my chip is either bad or I don't have the bios loaded correctly.
But when I go to the X-Changer web page it states if you can acess the different pages everything is ok with the installation of the chip.I have left messages for the X-Changer team and they have not responded to any emails I'm not sure why?
Thanks Dean

Your chip should be ok.

The reason you are getting the error is because you are booting from the retail bios. Try to load a couple different bios', Evox M8plus and X2.4983...(trial and error , till you find one that will work).

You never quite tell us what bios you had flashed (as Dangermouse was trying to say), perhaps you can share with us your choices.
I also can't see what version of Xbox you have and it can make a difference with bioses.

My xbox ver 1.0. The bios that I have loaded is the 256k from X-Changer. I also loaded the OS from the AID 3.0 that I loaded to my computer and than made a ISO with a 100mg dummy file also extracted from the AID 3.0.

Could it be that I don't have a different dash other than the standard ms dash ?

I did get a response from X-Changer and they think I don't have all the files needed to run on my C maybe?? not sure what files I could have missed.

The xbox files that I copied from the C: had evox on it. I did not install anything on the E: but I do have a copy of those files. I was hoping to be able to FTP the E drive files . Can I do this?

Shocked No other dashboard Shocked

Since you have AID, use that to install a dash of your choice. Load it on e, make a back up of your eerpom and lock your hdd.

Here's the logic:
Retail dash on c: for Live play (requires a locked hdd so you don't get the "error 5")
Hacked dash on e: along with what ever homebrew apps you want.
Load more homebrew on f: if/when your run out of room on e: .

I can't load my eprom. I don't have it or at least I don't think I have it.

My hard drive went dead and I never backed up any of my hard drive info.

I don't know why I can't get the AID 3.0 to load. I have tried several times. The way I loaded my unformatted HD was I hooked to my home computer and disconnected the HD there and install the unformatted one with the xboxhdm v 1.9 disk I made and I got a copy of the C & E files from my friend xbox. I did not load the E: file when I formatted the hard drive.

Can I ftp these file once I get the drive to work or should I remake the HD with the C and E files.

How do you install the AID 3.0. I printed the instruction and I feel as if I followed them . I made the ISO and burned it with the DVD Decrypter . When I put it into my xbox drive and reboot the xbox never reads the disk. Now I have not tried to load The AID 3.0 now that I have formatted the HD.

Do you think I should?? If you can find any errors in my ways please let me know. Confused Confused Confused I'm lost Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

The EEPROM is stored on the Xbox Mobo. I believe that with the X-Changer chip, in the HDD menu, you can lock the HDD. Give that a try, and see what happens.

Your problem with AID is Most likely that you have it burned to a CD-r instead of a DVD-R.

I burned it to a DVD R and A DVD RW Its too big to burn to a CD R or RW

Something else I want to ask. The C: file I used were from a softmodded box would this cause any problems.

If so I have a xbox at home that I can get these files from agian. When I ever I get back home been on the road for over 3 weeks Sad Sad Sad

I will try to lock the hard drive also let you know what happens

Ok here is the latest news I have!!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I locked the hard drive and I remove the modded chip . My Xbox loaded up fine because the file on my C: were copied from my friend x box that was soft modded.

My next question is were can I get a copy of ver 1.0 C: files or can I use any ver C: from a non soft modded box work???? I have a ver 1.1 or 1.2 xbox that has not been modded. I can pull the HD from that box and put the chip back in and unlock the HD and FTP the C: files. Then I can make a new HD with the xboxhdm v 1.9 with the new C: files or should I leave well enough alone and just leave the chip out. The soft modded box I copied the C: files from is evolution V+3935 it seems to be working.

If I leave the HD the way it is can I FTP the E:file or do I have to load these when I make the HD?? Thanks

You can use the C: files from the AID disk, or you can use the files from any working Xbox.(I recommend using the files from AID)

You would have to unlock the HDD first, then you would need a chip or lock that hdd to the xbox that you are trying to put it on.

I looked for the C: files on AID 3.0 . Not sure what they are called.

If I build another HD with the xboxhdm , once its done will I be able to load AID 3.0. I have not been using DVD-R . I'm going to get some and make a new ISO.

Should I be able to stick a virgin HD into my chipped xbox put the AID 3.0 ISO disk into my drive and boot and it will self load??

I have read the instructions 100 times and I can't see what i'm doing wrong other than the DVD-R. Any info would help. thanks

Yes, that's how it should work. You can take a computer DVD drive an connect it to your Xbox and have it read that why too!

The only thing I can see is that you need to burn it onto a DVD-R at low speed(2X-4X). The lower speed helps ensure a clean readable burn.
