Hello, I'm a noob and just finished soft-modding my XBOX with the EvolutionX dash from SID4.5. It worked great, everything I throw in it works. Now I am trying to upgrade my hardrive using the tutorial "Install Larger Hard-Drive into SoftModded Xbox". I am able to FTP into my xbox HD but can't find the backup file of my EEProm. The tutorial says it's in the E:backupMS folder but I don't see it. I thought during the installation process of SID it required the back EEProm and also MSdash. Also I am using an old Windows XP hard drive. Do I need to format and partition or does the linux script do it?

There is a back up feature in the system menu of EvoX. You can also back up with AID. Both will create a "back up" folder on e:

Ok, I made a backup of the EEprom with AID. It looks like it put it on my xbox E drive under /E/UDATA/21585554/000000000000/BACKUP/EEProm.bin. Does this sound right? I tried EvolutionX but I didn't see any backup features. Now I have C D and the EEprom backed up.
My next question is my ISO turned out to be over 1.2 gig which won't fit on a CD can a DVD be used instead for the process?

When making a xboxhdm disc, you really only need the ms dash files on folder C and your eeprom, you don't need anything else, as you can ftp your gamesaves from xbox to pc, and than back to new HDD.
it should be less than 300 megs (I think) and you can just use a simple CD-R, why waste a DVD. _________________ Xbox v1.1

Thanks for your replies. Here's an update. I created my new drive,installed it and booted it up. I was expecting the Evolution X dash to come up but it was the MS dash. I went and softmoded it again but now when I play any games they tend to lock up on me. Any ideas?

Hi,
Maybe a year ago i let someone softmod my Xbox. Now I tried to build in a larger harddisk by myself. I also used the tutorial "Install Larger Hard-Drive into SoftModded Xbox."
When I thought I was ready I put on the xbox and the original xbox dashboard loaded again, what means (I think) I got no softmod anymore.
What I forgot to do when I was making the bootdisk for xboxhdm is putting the savegames in E:\UDATA, so I didn't copy my softmod with it.
I made a new bootdisk and wanted to format my harddisk and make it again, with the softmod on it. The problem what i got now is that xboxhdm wouldn't load anymore! After the computer checkt the IDE settings (like primary master, slave, etc.) I only get a black screen with a blinking beam ( _ )
Maybe because I allready locked the drive? How can i unlock it then again? The reason why I dont want to do a new softmod is because I dont have the stuff for that.
Hope someone can help me...

Hey guys. I'm a noob to and I am having some trouble. I got a 200 gig drive I want to install into my xbox, so I backed up my old drive via FTP, created the ISO, burned it to a disk, and got going on it.....problem is, when I am to the second step, when I type 'xboxhd' I get this message.....
This script assumes /dev/hda is the device to be used for creating or rescueing an xbox hard drive. No disk drive found on /dev/hda (primary master)!
I have done every thing I can think of. I tried formating the drive first...I tried formatting it to fat32 in 30 gig partitions, I tried other jumper settings even though I am sure I had it right the first time. Also I am quite sure I had it on the primary master ide port. Any clues here? I would be greatful for any help.

Okay I have the EXACT same problem.
I did make a backup(i thought!) but when i got to the point to go to my E:\backup\MS the EEProm is NOT there .
Okay then i read this and i can see i can use thie software callede AID .
However i cant find any guides or this software , and i need it to backup my eeprom before i go ahead and install a larger HD in my xbox .
I hope you guys will take the time to help me out plzzzz
EDIT : I used UnleashX
to the Softmod.Installer.Deluxe.v2.0.Xbox-Hq
perhaps i should have used Softmod Installer Deluxe 4's instead

Yea but that still dosnt help me as i have no idea which version i should use :/ and i dont if i can burn on cd and then boot up etc etc
or that since i have the evox on my xbox will it be erased and replaced by the
Auto-Installer Deluxe .
?
+ aid delux is 600mb big and all i need is to just backup my eeprom is there no other way then to dl such a big file/software ?
