Would anyone be willing to help me learn to use php-nuke or an equivalent?

when you say learn phpnuke?? You mean?
1) The real code behind phpnuke or
2) Just the admin features etc..

Actually, I want to learn to install it and use it to run websites, as well as the code behind it so I can modify it.

If you can code C++ or VB then you already basically know how to code php then..

btw.. Do you have you PC setup with apache yet??
If not let me know and ill email you a link to download the full install without hurting your windows/NT/XP/2000 installation.
myself and DJB both are using phptriad at the moment..

Myself I have a little web server running Apache2Triad, and some sites running e107. the good thing on apache2triad is that it comes with phpnuke, you can install it from the a2t panel. for a simpler CMS, i suggest using e107, since its simpler, and more user-friendly.
