Are you getting any sound at all???
I had a xbox the other night which needed the whole VIDEO port unscrewed and re-tightened.. It had came loose.. Thats the first one id seen like that.
I could still hear the xbox startup in the speakers but no video.. When i tapped then xbox the video would come back up..
Hopefully you can get some sort of ERROR code from it..
that will help more..
no sound at all but i just turned it back on and it powered up and played fine, turned it off and the problem returned!!!could it be a bios or overheating issue??

You should be receiving some sort of error code whether it be the lights flashing on the front power light or a error code on the screen.
If you cant see either then more then likely you will need to perform whats called a HOTSWAP... There is a tutorial in our tutorials area which explains and helps you with this.
1000's of members have fixed their xboxes using the HOTSWAP tutorial.
hi all i get is solid green light no error code,i read it could be bios issue(xbox repair guide)but it boots up from cold and works perfectly even the softmods working????

Do you know what XB Ver. you have? What DVD drive?
Try this for a Samsung:
Straighten a small paperclip and insert it into the tiny hole under the tray.
Now you should have the tray open, you may see a belt and pulley that came off. if the pulley came off of the shaft you will need to disassemble the DVD drive to find it to put it back on.
If it's still on there you may just have a bad drive. _________________ I think I like fixing Boxes more than using them!

iits a v,1,3 or 1.4 with a samsung dvd.i tried the pin trick first with no joy but when the box boots up the dvd works fine.it does everything my other softmodded xbox does when it decides to work.its almost like its semi comatosed and keeps coming back to life?if i chip it would this override the BIOS and cure the problem and if so do i need to uninstall the softmod (SID 3 final)first?thanks dust1

The DVD drive. If you have access to another one put that in and see of your problems go away or even change.
You also may want to check all of your IDE connectors.(Make sure that they are all plugged in properly, and in good condition.)
Good Luck! (I hope it's just a loose connection.)
P.S. If you don't have your EEPROM backed up NOW is the time to get it done! (Even if it's just getting it onto a memorycard.) _________________ I think I like fixing Boxes more than using them!

Hold you Hors...errr...umm...Hammers there! There are other ways to deal with broken Xboxes!
I do recomend trying a modchip. Do you know what kind you want? Do you know how to solder? Have you ordered one already?
IF for some reason the chip doesn't work for you, let us know and we can help in one way or another. OK? _________________ I think I like fixing Boxes more than using them!
