hey everyone my 1.6 just kicked the bucket tonight and im really depressed about it. now i cant play any games. this morning from 1-7am i was trying to unlock my 1.1's hdd with a pc (in dos) and my 1.6. i was swapping the hdd's back and forth trying my damndest to get it to unlock but i failed. no the key on my 1.6 hdd is either missing or damaged and i cant replace it. didnt have my eeprom fully backed up, cause i cant find the eeprom folder in my C: or E: backups on my laptop. so looks like most likely im getting 2 modchips huh? cause my 1.1 has the "christmas lights" problem and now my 1.6 is messed up too! i might as well go for a bigger hdd for both while im at it. im thinking 120GB for both so if any of you come acrossed free hdd's that a pc store is throughing out, or you have one i could get for cheap id appreiciate it alot! also i dont know what mod chip to get for either really so let me know. thanks for your help \m/Thor\m/ _________________ If you wanna check out some of my music go to http://www.myspace.com/4evertrying Ill appreiciate your support.

i believe error 13 just means that your msdash wassn't found....i had a friend that had the same problem....u just need to hotswap....recheck our swaping...wat excatly are u doing?....let me know and i'll try ti help u out...

The hotswap takes good timing. You'll have to unplug the hdd from the xbox ide when the light first turns red. Don't give it time to blink. Make sure to follow every step in the hotswap tutorial. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

ok i got everything i need but im having problems with dvddecrypter. is there something else i could use to burn iso files? heres what i did. i unpacked xboxhdm, moved my C folder with M$ dash in it to the linux directory and replaced the old one. then i got an eeprom.bin file for a 1.6 xbox (same as mine) from xbins cause i didnt find mine in my backup of C or E. put tht bin file in the eeprom folder and made the iso. now when i open dvddecrypter to burn the iso it gives me an "Oh No" lol "Failed to set Write Parameters" error. wtf is that all about. i have a cdrw in the cd drive ! im using windows Me is that why? Alcohol 120 wont let me do it either. is it because its linux lol? idk what to do. i found a tutorial on www.llamma.com that involves making an interface with a Max232 chip and some parts from Radio Shack. i had already bought the chip on ebay and gotten the parts i need b4 i noticed this tutorial! lol so which ever happens first i guess lol. also is there any way if this works to unlock the hdd and explore it? like just put the M$ dash back in there instead of reformatting it and starting fresh? and will i get zapped if i do a hotswap? or will it f*** up my moms pc lol could i use this to fix the bios problem in my 1.1 also or maybe just recover the hdd from that too? lol many questions for something i have yet to understand! anyway thanks for any help. \m/Thor\m/ _________________ If you wanna check out some of my music go to http://www.myspace.com/4evertrying Ill appreiciate your support.

From what I've heard, there are issues with Windows ME.
With a hotswap, there is no need to worry about the eeprom.
If you are building a hdd from scratch, you will need the eeprom from your box and your box alone.
Softmodded xboxes require a harddrive to be locked to the eeprom of the box it is sitting in...not an eeprom of a similar box. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

i have great news! thanks to that tutorial...i read it over and over, read all the read-me files and such in the xboxhdm folder, and now my 1.6 is back to its factory settings! of course i had to download it again on my xp laptop and burn the disc because ME sucks and i think the cd burner in the other computer is crap...anyway..that tutorial and xboxhdm are the shizznit lol. i tried the hot swap on my 1.1 but the bios is gone so there where complications and i couldnt make it work. ill try to unlock it with this interface i read about on www.llamma.com i have all the parts to make it except the Max232 chip which is on its way in the mail! first time soldering too!! yikes lol. hopefully i can read the schematics ok. ill try to find it for you guys and post the link. so you can help me out. btw...i tried to softmod the 1.6 again but this time i tried using the AID v3 disc but the xbox couldnt read it (with a thompson drive or a hitachi) i had it on a cdrw. i used the splintercell exploit the first time. where can i get that again? downloads section? also when i ftped the 1.6 to transfer the backups earlier b4 this happened, i found unlock.txt and lock.txt but nothing was in them. i also searched the entire C and E drives and nothing turned up. i backed up with unleashX i think or maybe it was evox from the installations beginning idk lol. but either way i couldnt find a hdd key like it was described. anyway thanks for the great tutorial and for the great programs. special thanks go out to the one that posted and developed it. \m/Thor\m/ _________________ If you wanna check out some of my music go to http://www.myspace.com/4evertrying Ill appreiciate your support.

You'll find SID packaged in AID. Just extract the iso and you'll find it in the tools folder.
Once you have it softmodded again, use AID to make a back up of the eeprom and dash. You might want to back up the udata and tdata folders as well. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS
