I have 2 dvd drives, one is samsung, and the door is hard to open, i have to use a pin, and the other one was good till this morning. I put halo 2 in, wont read it, i put sims 2 in, it wont read it, and both discs are original, it is softmodded, and i dunno what to do, it wont run the games in UX nor MS dash, is there anyway i can fix the drive? NFL 06 illegal copy runs great, WTF? ITS NOT A PROB WITH THE DRIVE< YAY, ITS A PROBLEM WITH THE SOFTWARE, i hope, but mysister this morning played ice age 2 [coppied] and it gave her a dirty disc er, wtf? _________________

I'm not a pro, but how did you get the ISO's of the illegal games? If you downloaded them you may first extract them with Qwix and then create the ISO again with Qwix. I also have a couple of games that give that error and this solves it for me. I don't know anything for original games. Hope it helps!

If your drive is having problems reading original disks, then I would have to say your laser is getting weakened. It's an unfortunate reality of the drives. Sometimes they last five years, other times they can go in a year or so.
Basically, those MS original disks are pressed dual layer media. The laser has a hard time reading the second layer and will assume since it cannot obtain any data that the disk is dirty, thus giving you the dirty read error.
Not sure why you think the dirty disk read error is software related, but maybe someone else can shed some light other than my thought.
If it was my machine, I would pop another known good drive in to do some basic trouble-shooting. _________________ Xbox 1.4

The illegal games work fine, the original games do not, so what i will do, is strengthen the lasers power, by titghtening this litle screw that controls the electricity that runs the laser. SO that will fix it _________________
