Ok I got a 40 gigabyte Seagate 7200 RPM HDD that still has windows XP on it and some other shit and I don't have an IDE cable where I can format the HDD using my PC. Can I just throw the HDD into my xbox and use Chimps Box stall or anything for that matter? Any help would be greatly appreciated--thank you in advance.

yep you can just throw it in if you have a mod chip......
if you have a softmod then you just need your eeprom.bin and any type of dashboard to boot up on the new hd....
if your xbox isnt moded in any way then start doing your homework and decide whats best for you.....
softmods= cheapest fastest.... chip = long time and can end up with no xbox if done incorrectly
if you have a softmod then please tell me what the softmod is called .... note i didnt ask for the type of disc..... ppl get confused with this often. _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

I'm chipped with DuoX in a 1.6b. I was talking in the last post about where I put my apps--in the E or F directory of the Xbox----and I believe the answer is F:\ Right?

Boss, that was done 3 or so posts ago. I formatted and added the right partioning and added Evox Dash. Now I just want to put the most updated program appz on the HDD, you know. Here is a good question, in my opinion, When a person has an earlier version of an app like DVD2XBOX0.7.2 and he/she updates to the newest version via auto installer does the old version get added on to or does the auto installer leave the first version on the HDD, still taking up valuable space?

my bad dude i just dont see it saying that its xbox useable...
ok now to answer your question.... yes the auto installer will update the programs /apps to the newer versions auto ...... that is why its called auto installer deluxe .... now the items can be put on E or F ..... so if you have dvd2xbox .0.7.2 and the newest one .0.7.4 is on aid 3 it will replace it ...... so theirs no hd space loss
sorry for the misunderstanding _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

If I power up my xbox using the eject button (modchip is disabled this way) I get error 13. If I boot using the power button (modchip is enabled this way) I go right to Evox. Once at Evox I can access Microsoft dashboard by selecting "Go to MS dash for date/time setting" and everything seems fine but once I power off the xbox and try to start it up using the eject button it goes right to the error 13 screen?

The reason that you get Error 13 when you boot without the chip on is your M$dash XBE file has been renamed and is not the same as what the stock bios is looking for.
If you format your c: drive and install only M$dash 5960 to it and configure your chip's bios (if it's even necessary) to look at F: for the dashboard and leave your c: in it's stock state. That way you will have the Factory or the modded dashboards to choose from. _________________ I think I like fixing Boxes more than using them!

Man luckily I still have the stock HDD untouched, just in case. But obviously I'd rather fix this problem and use the 40 gig HDD. Can someone post me up a easy yet great tutorial on how to fix up my small problem?

When you have a chip you can boot 'Un-Signed' code. (such as the AID 3.0 disk you are going to download to fix this...HINT!...HINT!...HINT!!! )
When you boot the AID 3.0 disk you will be able to format and reload the entire HDD on about 20 minutes, without opening the Xbox!
you will need WinRAR or 7-zip to open it. You can get 7-zip (freeware) from the Downloads section on www.AIDDeluxe.com _________________ I think I like fixing Boxes more than using them!

What I did to fix this problem: I put my hacked dashboard on the C drive along with the Microsoft Dashboard and all problems were solved. I'll tell you the truth; at first I put the hacked dashboard on the F drive using AID3. This caused a problem because once I turned off the Xbox and restarted the Xbox the EVOX (the hacked dashboard I like to use) was not there. But I was still able to play backups--weird, huh. I wasn't satisfied though obviously!! So I started from scratch and put my hacked Dasboard on the C drive along with the Microsoft Dashboard and that CURED EVERYTHING. Thank God, or in some peoples case, thank the almighty Higher Power (just trying to be politically correct). I have to give credit to DJB for a very simple and effective Auto Installer. The only complaint I have is that the manuals that accompany AID3 don't go into enough detail regarding "DHCP". If anyone can break it down to me in non-technical jargon, I'm listening. But please do it through a private message. Thank you in advanve to the person who has the know how and isn't lazy when it comes to typing a return message to my "DHCP" question. Peace to all who read this. And on a final note---please click the "www" box at the bottom of this post so you can see something I consider real cool.
