hey, I recently had a problem with my xbox that resulted in me not being able to access ANY dashbaord or anything, in any way, and I was told that hotswapping may be able to fix my problem. After consulting pirrup's tutorial and one or two others, I'm wondering if there's another way.
Is it possible/easier to hotswap from my now-unmodded (previously softmodded) to a softmodded xbox?
I have only some basic computer/xbox knowledge, and am learning as I go (though learning quite a bit.) You see, this xbox I'm trying to fix actually belongs to my 12 year old little brother, it was his Christmas present and one of his little annoying friends messed it up. Now I'm doing my best to fix it but we bought it previously softmodded, so I imagine it'll be a drawn out process learning how to, then fixing it. But the first step is hotswapping.
Now I know many of you spend a lot of time helping out people like me, so I'm not looking for a complete new tutorial here, just a few pointers. Such as, well I'm assuming IDE cables are the ones in the back of the harddrive (though I've never actually seen inside an xbox before.) I'm just a little unclear as to what to do, even after unplugging it. Also, instead of reinstalling the micrsoft dashboard, is it possible to skip that and go right ot installing evoX again? Because even after setting it back to just the microsoft dash, I'll still have to learn how to softmod it again. I have SlaYers Auto-Installer on a dvd.
I think that's about it. Can anyone help?

Hotswap will fix your problem. The ide cable is the ribbon style one and the tut you want to look at is in the sticky in this forum. It'll address your question about the ms dash also. _________________ XBOX V1.4
