Please help. I'm sitting here with my pc linked via FTP to my xbox. I'm in the E:/backup/MS and I'm looking for my eeprom. It isn't there. where else might it be??

well for starters, it would be a little more helpful if you could provide a little more details about ur xbox and how it's modded. i'm assuming it's softmodded since you have the e:\backup\ms folder. so if it's softmodded, which version softmod did you use? the newest ones are SID 4.5 and SID 3.1 Final, and both of them have an option through the softmod eeprom backup menu to move the eeprom to e:\backup\eeprom. if you're using an older softmod (SID 2 or 3) i don't remember exactly where it keeps the backup but i'm sure one of the more knowledgable members will chime in about it.

Sorry about that. I have the latest version, softmodded box. Finally, I found the eeprom in C:backup. So, no prob. there. But now, I can't get FTP to work. I made sure the LAN settings checked "use automatic configuration script" and made sure the numbers were the same as my box. I right clicked on Local Area Connection and under the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) I checked "use the following IP address" and made sure the IP address and Subnet mask matched that of the xbox. I left the third space blank. I even rebooted my computer but no connection. I tried going in w/cmd and pinging the address, no connection. My computers IPconfig was 67.174.184.97 (though when I was trying to FTP, I'm pretty sure it was 192.168.0.4 -- though I didn't check it.)
Any ideas...is there something small I'm forgetting?

ive had similar situations....... run config magic from your aid disk and it store your info on your e drive, just run it from the aid disk tools........this will work. as ftp use crossover cable.. box setting 192.168.0.3 .......
255.255.255.0....comp set at 192.168.0.2 same subnet as xbox. enable static on box use pasword and user name xbox , no anonymous and no proxy, turn off any security on comp firewalls etc.

noooo DONT RUN configmagic because u COULD end up with a BRICK xbox.... meaing garbage..... LOL THATS WHY WE MADE SID 4... SO PPL DONT DO STUPID THINGS.... not to ofense anyone but that is for ppl that know what they are doing .... so STAY AWAY !!!! from configmagic!
BTW : i know where is your eeprom..... .. but that is why i need to know what softmod it is so i can tell you EXACTLY where your eeprom is .....
