Could you please explain what you used to softmod your xbox with. What version of SID or NKpatcher... And the steps that you preformed... It will help everyone out in helping you out.
I am sure that you didn't mess up your Xbox by leaving it unplugged for 5 hours... I don't know how that would give you a dashboard error.
Error 16 means your xbox cannot find the menu setting with which you can set the clock of the hdd. This happens to a lot of people that erase their hdd (original/upgraded) or MS dashboard files and after that they don't immediatly install the hdd but leave the xbox without power longer than 5 hours.
Solution: You may have corrupted dashboard files on your xbox hdd. Use the 'HQ Auto Installer Deluxe' to reinstall your dashboard. _________________

Gave Me the M$Patch error, now not booting
How can I run HQ Auto Installer on non-booting XBox??

WHy don't you just resoftmod? Then use AID to install the MS backup to your HDD, then patch and go on with it. That's what I would do, it's simpler than a hotswap, and much quicker. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

That's Exactly what's happening, I have an Executer2 Chip in my modded box , it can't boot the Soft Modded Box's hard drive Either!
If I Use Xboxhd 1.9 to Unlock the Unmodded Box's HDD, can I put it in my
Modded Xbox (executer2) & rebuild the drive (UnModded Xbox)??

If you have a backup of your softmodded xbox's eeprom then you could change your chipped xbox's eeprom to that of the softmod using ConfigMagic. Then you would be able to put the other hdd in the chipped box and reinstall everything via. AID3.0
If you don't have the eeprom then I would suggest using a hotswap like Hellblazer said...
Here is an old post of mine...
I had: 1 busted softmod box (dash error 16)
1 eeprom backup of sofmod box (in file named softeeprom)
1 chip modded box
1 laptop
a copy of config magic
a copy of flashfxp (ftp program on pc)
This is how I fixed my box.
I turned on the chipped box and ftp'd into it using flashfxp (alternativly you could use any ftp program to do this) I then found the "ConfigMagic" folder under my "Apps" folder... within this folder is another called "Data" whithin that folder are some files...i.e. eeprom.bin, and eeprom.cfg... I copied these files to the laptop in a file named "chippedboxeeprom". After that I deleted the files "EEPROM.bin and EEPROM.cfg" from the chipped box, and replaced them with the softmod backups "EEPROM.bin and EEPROM.cfg" from here I didn't turn off the box or disconect from the ftp I just went on the xbox itself and ran ConfigMagic
When in ConfigMagic I preformed these steps:
1 Unlock HD
2 Load eeprom from .bin file
3 Update xbox eeprom
4 Load xbox eeprom
5 Lock HD
When this was completed I could now take the softmodded hdd and put it directly into the chipped box. because the chipped box is basically a mirror image of the softmod box now, it can unlock and lock the softmod box's hdd.
After the soft hdd was in the chipped box I just ran an auto installer disk (I used AID 101) and reformatted the entire hdd. I also added all the apps, emulators, and a hacked dashboard (avalaunch).
I then took the hdd out and put it back in the softmod box... and replaced the chipped box hdd. Ftp'd back into the chipped box and and replaced the eeprom.bin and eeprom.cfg with the chipped box's origonal eeprom files. Ran ConfigMagic and repeated steps 1 through 5... Now the chipped box is back to normal. _________________ http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-211.html

A friend of mine (who did my Executer Mod) says the eeprom is for Xbox Live why would I need it , I don't plan on Using Live , after the horror stories about Fuxing up softmods. If I buy anew Modchip for this box will it solve my problem ? Like just building a new 200 gig drive!

the eeprom is needed to run you xbox lock and unlock the harddrive among other things, a mod chip will over ride the eeprom in the xbox or replace so long you have a unlocked harddrive. _________________

Hopefully my full tutorial will be completed by this weekend.
Hellblazer is right, the eeprom is used for your locking and unlocking of the hdd. And since a softmodded xbox needs to have the hdd locked then you will also need your eeprom. The eeprom is also used for Xbox live as your friend said, Live checks your xbox eeprom against your account and if you get banned then the only way to get back on is with a diff. eeprom.
The eeprom is different for each xbox console. And each eeprom is married with the hdd. It is basically the hdd's locking and unlocking password. So, if we take an eeprom off of one (XBOX A) and apply it to (XBOX B) then both xbox's are now pretty much identical. So, you can now use either hdd in either xbox and both will work. This is why we have to change the eeprom... _________________ http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-211.html
