the website where i want 2 buy the chip 4 says it works with all xbox versions (1.0-1.6) and is preflashed with evox m8 bios. does that matter?

It wont boot and you will have a flashing eject button. Just cant use any size and type of bios, thats why i want to know what version xbox you have so i can tell you what bios to use. _________________

I think they flash it for the 1.0 to 1.5 versions bios not the 1.6 version. _________________

i dont see how your going to flash it with out power. you xbox has to be on to power the chip in order to flash it _________________
