hello. i recently attempted to softmod my xbox using the splinter cell exploit and AID 3.0. i got to SIDS 3.1 and got it to the point where SIDS 3.1 would boot up, and i could boot AID3.0 from a DVD. i couldnt get a dashboard to stick so i restored the c drive and uninstalled the softmod. when i rebooted the xbox all i get is a "xbox live is not responding. try again later". but i can still boot games. of course my linux save isnt on the c: drive anymore so i cant boot it up from splinter cell again. also i cant do a hotswap because my mobo wont recognize the xbox hdd at all for some reason. anyways, my question is, will a "slayers disc" work? not too sure what it is but i can try it. or if i use a newer xbox live game, will it reinstall the dashboard for me? or am i pretty much screwed, and should just drop a few bucks on a modchip. thanks for any insight.
