I'm not all that familiar with linux but perhaps someone that's messed with it could give us some insight. You are correct that you may find either a txt or inf file that will help you in your quest. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

samba (smb) provides file and print services to all manner of SMB/CIFS clients .
I've not found many "if any" xbox programs or utilitys for a PC running Linux. Any of you guys know of any?
I've used FTP to send stuff from my Linux PC to my xbox...works about the same as it would running Windows.
With Samba running, I imagine you could use DVD2XBOX to rip games to your Linux PC.....and maybe play media from your Linux PC with XBMC.
I've not tried to burn a xbox dvd from Linux yet....anybody tried that?
oops.....look up at the sticky's. haha _________________ Xbox - 1.4 Halo SE

As far as running dsl on your puter, I have mine set up to dual boot Xp and DSL. I Have had good results with Linux. I tend tend to have trouble digging up drivers for some of my cheap-a** hardware, lol, but DSL is insanely fast. Especially if you run it from ram. the program Wine will lwt you run MOST windows-build programs that don't use DirectX. In any case, it's fun to play with. Turns into Debian when you install it to the HD.

Not sure if this helps, but if you want to play/explore Linux you can use Knoppix bootable CD to try (imagine you are already past this though). There are som variations of it out there too. I have used it on laptops and desktops... it works great.
