OkI've followed the guide on this site and it isn't that helpful.
I need pictures to know what i'm doing ot atlest a guide what goes into detail.
My pc is has many different IDE cables so I don't know what to do.Can any one please help me with this.
I've put the cd in mypc, swapped the cable from my xbox hd to my pc, as it told me to and nothing happens, please help me.

its all about timing....personally i leave a game in so the xbox hd is unlocked for sure...

Things you should check are:
The bios is set to boot from cd first.
Primary IDE of your pc is unplugged from any periferals. This is the one you will plug the xbox hdd on.
NOTE-the xbox hdd will be connected to the middle plug.
The xbox will unlock the hdd between 6 to 8 seconds. From my findings it's usually 6. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

ok, thanks i'm gonna give it another go.
One thing though, I keep getting error 7 from the xbox which means HDD malfunction. I get this every time i switch on the xbox, could this be the reason why my pc is not reading HDD?

I have tried many times to hot swap a deleted hard disk but fail to get the hd unlocked.. I have followed all the tuts that I have found regarding hotswaps.
I had another xbox to hand to try out on and it work. I was getting a different error with same procedure. Error 11. This is what I did.
Unplug power and ide cable from DVDROM. Boot machine once error on screen swap ide to primary ide on a paused pc.
On the working xbox I get error 11 and HD is unlocked this verified using xbhdm 1.9. But with the xbox with deleted HD I get error 12 and no unlock.
I notice that on the non working xbox when booting the time it takes for the flashing red/green light is about 3 seconds. Very fast. The flashing happen before the booting animation has completed. I have read this should take about 8 seconds.
