personally if i owned the copy i would call M$ Support (microsoft)..
They will issue you a new key as long as you have all the info they want.
Im sure it wont be a problem..
Apart from that the only thing i could think of is the activation hack but i havent looked into it.. I own all my copies of XP and have no need..
Maybe djb could help but im not sure if he would know where it is either.
Ill send djb a quick pm and see what he says.
Well i dont know what to say, obviously that copy of windows xp was used past its pc user limit of 1 registered OS so microsoft killed that copy of windows xp, so typically you can get a licence to use it again but i cant say how much its going to cost. You problem trying to you your LAN NIC card is driver related by the sounds of it. Yeah its those pesky drivers lol. _________________

well as far as i know all the drivers are good and updated i got them off the manufacturers website, and windows xp is saying that everything is runnin smooth, it could possibly be the drivers, but i dont think so in this case, i will try callin ms support hopefully they can spare a new license for free or somethin, i dont think it would break their multi billion doller bank, im tryin to get some money together to donate to this site to become a vip and to show appreciation for all the help you guys have given me.

From experience and according to my big a$$ book for windows xp when your system locks up trying to use a device or a program that uses the drivers is having a unexpected error causeing your system to lock up, you can reinstall the drivers use older ones to see if they work, it the matter of finding the drivers that will work and not cause errors. _________________

ok so the bastards at ms, according to their website want 84 dollars for a new activation key, i guess their billions of dollars left the building and they need more, so i dont know what to do, also i was thinking would the activation not bein completed yet be restricting my comp from networking and that would be why it freezes up when i connect my cable to it? Cuz I got older drivers and that still didnt solve the problem.

not having it registered should not affect the way you can use the computer it just means that theres a problem else where, most likely your hardware, it could be the card or the card is not making full contact with the pins, You can try moving the card to another PCI slot and see if that works. _________________

How much memory do you have in that computer? Xp needs 256MB at least to run, any less than that your gonna have problems too, i know its a pain but hang in there, we can get this licked. _________________

In your start menu goto my computer and right click and goto properties, in the general tab near the bottom you should see your processor type, speed and ram. _________________
