Wanted to know if anybody has run into this. This was a problem prior to modding as well. Hooking up my XBOX to my projection TV, it starts OK (sometimes), then the colors will change constantly and cause flickering, sometimes going completely Black and White. I have tried the cable that came with it, a third-party cable with S-Video, and the Hi-Def pack with component, all with the same results. Seems to work fine with a tube television. My other XBOX seems to work with the projection TV, but haven't left it on there long enough to be certain.
Any ideas of what this could be? The XBOX with the problem is an old one if that gives any clues. Maybe a cooling problem with the AV component, can't be sure.

maybe some pins inside of the connector on the xbox got bent up .
or the connector itself is not soldered well to the board ,
try putting some force up and down on the connector when you get the problems and see it goes away . if it does then its either the pins inside the connector or the connection of it with the motherboard _________________ Xbox v1.0/1.1/1.5/1.6a

Tried putting force on it up and down to no effect.
Interesting: when I left the XBOX off all night and turned it on this morning, it seemed to work for a little while then started doing it again.
Leads me to believe it may be a cooling problem. Going to crack the shell, pull the components (to create maximum airflow), then run a box fan on it while running to see if that makes a difference.
Any other ideas welcome.

The fan trick did nothing. Same symptoms:
Starts out ok, then flashes colors after a few minutes of operation.
Only happens on projection TV, tube works fine.
Have no idea.

Something quirky about it, because my other Xbox (I have now tested it) works great on the projection TV.

I have never experienced that problem but do you care to elaborate on what you are talking about fam val and how you go about doing that and what it would do....have you replaced many video chips and where do you order yours from....later. _________________ Xbox V1.6
