One of the main questions in this forum is "why wont my xbox read the certain disc I burned?" There's two ways to get an answer to this, check your drive, then check the media it's able to read. How? Well curtosy of DJB's AID manual, and the beta testers here at HQ, this table has been drawn up. I've cut it out of the manual and posted it here. So check this and try different media if your box isn't reading discs.

Cool.

Just remember that graph shown above is a little old now, but hopefully it will be still reliable.

Good job on the post. That can solve a lot of issues before people start posting. I'm not sure if this is sticky, but it should be in this thread. Thanks again.

Yup it's sticky.

Just to note before anyone has a go at us for this, the information was collected from xbox-linux a while ago.

ya, uh, so, I tried to put the copyed dvd-r in my drive (I have a samsung), and it still poped up with a mesage saying that it still couldn't read the dvd. what i did is I downloaded a "all in one" NES, SNES, Genesis, Nintendo64, and it didn't work. I don't know if using nero 9 effects if it will work. It says "burn image to disk using Nero or Alcohol 120%. run default.xbe from the xbox file browser." could someone please help me out here!!!!

-tks-

You burnt the .ISO file? Did you burn in ISO mode? If you put the disk into your computer, does it show a .iso file?

he downloaded the the roms from the net and burned it to the disc and hopefuly waiting it reads and play them...

what you need to do is drag each of those games to its correct emulater .... for example.. n64 007 goldeneye would go on n64 emu/roms / n64 007 godeneye goes here.... somthing like that...

you would have to transfer each indivual rom to its perspictive emulater folder...... do you already have each emu on your xbox????

what i do is i ftp the roms to the xbox rather then burining them....

GOldeneye will NOT run on a modded xbox, just to let ya know that. I have a Samsung 616t DVD-ROM drive (PC drive modded to be an xbox drive). yes, it still sticks. Try loosening the screws on the dvd case, and also make sure the DVD bezel has ample clearance. And with a samsung, you should have no problem running a CD-R.
