hi ive been searching this forum and looked through all the topics about AID not booting or AID booting to a black screen...the solution in the end was burning it on to the correct media which the xbox can read..i have a thompson drive...nd tried several types of cdrws and dvdrs with AID on them none of which will boot up...other installers like slayers 2.6 work flawlessly..but i just cant get AID to work...could any of you suggest a certain type of brand of cdrw/dvd+r/dvd-r etc. that definately works with AID 2.1 in a thompson drive....thanks in advance

I also have a Thompson drive. I use a Sony DVD+RW disc as my test media, and Memorex DVD+R or -R as my final disc. Burn at 4X or slower, for best results.

oh man....just bought a sony dvd-r and tried it on my xbox...still no luck...same old black screen.. ....what else could i possibly be doing wrong?....other auto installers work....just not AID

Is there anyway you can check the CRC32 or MD5 checksum of your copy of AID? I'm starting to wonder if you didnt get a corrupt download.

How big of a dummy file/s did you add. Make sure it is big. And do a cold boot with the aid disk (meaning put the disk in, shut the tray, than restart the xbox using the hacked bios). Sometimes it takes a few tries. _________________ XBOX- V1.0

hi there...my dummy file is 1.5 gigs....and about this cold boot thing...how do i restart the xbox using hacked bios?

It depends on if you are using a softmod or a hardmod. I do not really know much about softmods so maybe someone else can help you if that is what you have.
If you have a modchip, usually if you just press the power button, your xbox will turn on with the hacked bios. And if the aid disk is already in, you just did a cold boot.
Give some info as to what you are runniing so we can help better (xbox version, modchip or softmod, bios running, dashboard, harddrive, etc.). Also, it is a good idea to put it in your signature and your profile. _________________ XBOX- V1.0

hi there...im running
xbox version 1.0
80 gig hard drive
xecuter 2
(dont know what bios i have...i had my modchip installed and serviced by someone else)
(my c drive is wiped so i dont have a dashboard)

ok heres what happens....i boot up my xbox with aid in the drive...a purple xbox symbol comes up...then after a few seconds the words: xecuter 2 come underneath it....then after a minute or so they both fade away to a black screen..is that easier to understand?

I seems since your xbox symbol starts up purple that it is running the hacked bios, that is good.
What program are you using to burn aid? If you are not using dvddecrypter, I would suggest that as it is extremely easy to burn it the correct way using that. _________________ XBOX- V1.0

How big was your iso before you added the dummy file....and you are trying to do 2.11 right....im sure this will get sorted out soon enough...something i had to do once too after many failed attempts was swap a dvd drive with an extra box i had...just put it right on top of the other change power and ide cables and install....good luck man...later. _________________ Xbox V1.6
