Got a strange problem here: 1.0 Xbox with the HD Pack and a Samsung HDTV (NTSC-M). 480p, 720p and 1080i are all enabled in MSDash 5960.. Using MechAssault and AR to run SID.
When I run SID, it verifies that I am in NTSC-M 720p. I can create my backups and install the softmod. I follow the onscreen instructions to the letter. However, no matter what I choose (single or dual boot NTSC) after install I only have 480i. EvoX reports my video standard in system settings as unknown and the field is blank under the included UnleashX.
If I choose dual boot and boot to MSDash then HDTV works fine in games and I can access forced prograssive in dash (L trig + R trig + L and R thumbsticks clicked). However, if I boot into the softmodded dash I'm stuck in 480i. If I uninstall the softmod and go back to just MSDash then HDTV resolutions are fine. It's only when I access the softmodded dash that the problem occurs in. That's a bummer because I want to set XBMC to run in 720p.
Is this a known issue? I know there are problems with PAL boxes but I didn't think there were any with NTSC.
Thanks!

Hi,
Not sure about SID4.. Ive personally never run it and always run SID3 as its much easier to understand and use.. SID4 has some fantastic features sure but i dont believe they are all tested to the extent of the original SID3 release was.
But, hey.. You should be able to do it with SID4 unless nknave didnt know it was a bug. Nknave does some nice work.. Hopefully another member here running SID4 can confirm this for you.
If you cant get SID4 working with HDTV i would re-install your Softmod using SID 3 it should work just fine. Ive done it a few times no prbs at all.

Could you be more specific on what version of SID 4?? (IE: SID 4.0, 4.1 4.5 etc)
The latest SID 4.5 includes a HD patch for the softmod, but I dunno if that is the one you have tried to use or not.

SID 4.0 NKNave edition is the one I've tried.

Simple as this.
Nkpatcher doesn't support it all in once, so you must enable it.
SID 4 doesn't support it.
SID 4.1 (never released) doesn't support it.
SID 4.5 (????) does have an extra menu in the installer that will force the use of HiDef on your TV. How ever it will only support 480p, but it will force the HiDef even if your xbox is one of those 1.6 that doesn't support it. _________________ Xbox v1.1

So does this mean that only the installer doesn't suport HiDef but other apps such as XBMC, HiDef Games, etc will?
What did you mean by "one of those 1.6 that doesn't support it"? New Xboxes don't support Hi-Def anymore? How do you find out if yours is one of those if this is the case?
Thanks again. Looking forward to 4.5. I'm waiting on modding my new box until it's out. Love your site!

when the HiDef is patched it will force high def on anything, if the app, game, emulator supports it, than you'll get HiDef, if they don't, you don't, as for some apps and some linux distros will not allow you to run in HiDef like X-DSL (my personal experience) _________________ Xbox v1.1

So when you say "when the HiDef is pached it will force high def on anything" What does that mean? I'm confused about that.

Thats answers your questions..
If the app or dashboard doesnt support it then it will just default back to normal i would say..

So, not to be stupid or anything :0
But what your saying is if I softmod with 4.1 (or 4.5 when it comes out), the softmod may not be hi-def but the my Barbie Horse Adventure game would be if it was a hiDef game right?

what they are trying to say for ex...
if halo 2 is high def then the softmod will auto turn on the high def settings but if the game is not high def supported then the softmod will just display normal settings.... _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition
