alrighty...i have decided to mod my box...its a 1.0 with a thomson and 8 gig hdd...
i've decided on the X2.3b pro...im also going to get a 120gb hdd...im pretty sure i can get the chip installed atleast, but from there...im going to be totaly lost...
my question is what so i do from there...sorry if im being vauge but can sum one help me...thx

As you said you can install your chip I will skip that part. I'll try and give you as in depth help as possible. So:
1. Become a VIP member of this site (it's not too expensive and it is very good).
2. Go to the VIP downloads section and download Xbox-Hq Auto Installer.
3. Burn the ISO file to disc and run it in your xbox with the chip turned on.
4. Now that you are running Evolution X FTP to your xbox and make a FULL BACKUP of the C: and E: drives. (If you do not know how to FTP post or PM me and I will help you out as it can be tricky).
5. Open up your xbox and replace your origonal hard drive with your larger one (hard drive must be set to cable select).
6. Boot the xbox again with the auto installer in the dvd drive.
7. Select Rebuild Larger Hard Drive.
8. Let the application run through.
9. Copy accross the TDATA and UDATA folders from the E:\ partition from your computer backup to the xbox.
10. Download a program called Config Magic.
11. Unzip this program and copy it to E:\apps\
12. Restart the xboxgo to launch applications from hard drive and select Config Magic.
13. Go into options and selet lock hard drive.
14. Save this and quit.
15. Restart the xbox with your chip turned off and it should load the original dashboard, if you see an error code make sure confog magic has locked the drive.
That's it, that should all work an you will have a fully working xbox with lots of applications already installed. If you want to put on more things put it into either:
E:\apps
E:\emulators
E:\games
Then go to Launch applications, Launch games or Launch emulators from the Evox dashboard and it will auto detect them as long as there is a default.xbe file in the folder. Good Luck _________________ V1.4 Xbox

wow... thanks a million...i went ahead and ordered the X2.3bpro and i checked the overnight box so ill get it monday or tuesday...ill sign up for the vip then.....from what i made out about the hard drives from above, if i upgrade to an 80gb fer now, since i already have one handy, i can later upgrade to a 120 or higher and still have all the saved games that were on there before?
thanks for your help...ill let u kno how i turn out...i also want to do case painting and the jewel mod so ill post pics when im done....hopefully by this weekend so i have a chance to show it off for our football lock in deal at our school....tahnks again for help...

Your Welcome and yes once you have all your stuff on tht 80 gig hard drive you can just copy these by ftp then pput in your 120 gig drive and put them back again. You also might want to check out the tutorials on www.xbox-scene.com. There's some really good ones on case painting and jewel mods. _________________ V1.4 Xbox

yeah i went there and found some really good tips and i also salw somthing about te dvd drive window...i wanted to do that but all the tuts on there didnt show ne pics...they all had a little red x in the box...so if you kno of a tut for that that has good pics lemme kno plz...thanks for help
