My xbox is already softmodded by a friend. Now that I know how to softmod myself, I would like to use SID 4.0 myself because I want the NDURE feature. I have a few questions. When i backup the eeprom, MS, and the mod backup, it would be defaultly saved on the E drive right? Can someone show me how to uninstall my current mods because my friend is an a hole. When I start the system with the eject button, the menu comes up that say uninstall UXE package and restore C drive. What should I do or use? Also, can someone tell me about the boot features? The guide confused me and there seems to be 3 kinds of boot feature, do I get them all or do I pick one? PLEASE REPLY BECAUSE I AM A NOOBY. PLEASE ONLY ANSWER IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT. THANK YOU.

Correct, E:\Backup.
As for the restore, power up your box with the eject button to get to the uxe menu, and uninstall softmod/restore C. Use uninstall uxe, then restore C. This will restore your xbox to its unmodded state, and then you can run SID4 normally.

You can only pick 1 boot option, as follows:
1. Single boot = boots dash
2. Dual boot gamesave - open = SID4 menu
3. Dual boot Ndure - open = Retail (for Live! etc)

With dual boot, tray closed will boot softmod and dashboard.

I hope this clears it up a little.

Cheers, Roo Smile

Correct backup of MS that SID 4 uses is on E:\backup\MS\, and yes it must be active.

I don't suggest uninstalling with the UXE menu, cause you dont' know if your friend kept or deleted your backup files, what i do suggest you do is the following.

1) get SID 4 gamesaves on Xbox.

2) download MS Dash 5960, and ftp to xbox in E:\backup\MS\

3) either put your game to install exploit, run the installer like this.
-backup eeprom
-install softmod>region? Dual boot>Ndure with Dash?.

If you got MS Dash on E:\backup\MS\, if it's not there, you cannot install it.

Another option since your already modded, is to the all the same, but instesad or running the game to install softmod, you can use a file explorer/manager, and go to E:\UDATA\21585554\000000000000\, and select "menu.xbe" or "install.xbe", install.xbe is the nkpatcher signed with habibi, and menu.xbe is Unleash X menu, for SID 4 installer.

that's about it.

Nknave

Anymore questions?

So if he didn't make a backup, then i can never install SID 4.0? Can't I just follow the instructions of the guide and install SID over my softmods now? To clarify what N-Knave said, I should create eeprom backup, then install softmods. And if it say I can't install it, then I don't have a backup?

And a correction on my part. I says UDE and not UXE.

Read this carefully.

To installer SID 4, you need 2 things.

Retail MS dash, either on C, or E:\backup\MS\, and backing up your eeprom from installer menu.

If you have retail MS Dash on C:\, then you do this.
-backup eeprom
-backup ms dash
-install softmod>region? boot?>type dash?

If you have a softmode already installed, you must have ms dash in E:\backup\MS\, and you'll de it like this.
-cold boot game, so older softmod insn't activated, and load SID 4.
-backup eeprom
-install softmod>region? boot?>type dash?

That's it, you can easily upgrade to SID 4, but like I said, if you don't have backups, you must make them.

Another way, is to put SID gamesaves in xbox, pop in AID disc, format your C drive and install MS Dash with no mods, then power off, power backon with exploitable game, and boot SID, using first method i mentioned.

nknave: is it possible that ohso0ri3nt41 could run disc.iso, because its already softmodded, and install/update softmod from the main menu. Or install sid4 gamesaves, then install ms dash, then

Just thought of this while checking out your disc.iso Wink

yes, but i dont' recomend installing softmod from current disc.iso, cause it's got a little virtual eeprom issue.

just format C, and install MS Dash, and put SID 4 gamesaves, and run it.

The issues with virtual eeprom on disc.iso, was my first attemp, and lead to having the same MAC addresses for all xboxes, so if you install softmod from disc iso, and have multiple xboxes trying to comunicate with eachother, they can't, cause same mac address=refusal on connecting.

I'll be releasing my Personal Installer "Knave's Softmod Instalelr", soon, and it's got it all fixed, but i'm waiting to see if we get this PAL issues, fixed.

PAL Issue: Some PAL xboxes don't like getting their eeprom dump patched, leading to wrong video mode, or black and white mode, due to video mode settings.

While your a NTSC, then your good, SID 4, and my Installer will do perfect installs

Thanks a lot N-Knave. Sorry if i have a lot of questions but i hav a little more to extend my softmodding knowledge. I have yet to actually ftp between my xbox and my pc. However, when i do, I can check up for the backup by checking the E drive right? I also heard that if you don't make a backup of your retail dashboard, then you can never uninstall your softmods? Does AID have these kinds of capabilities to where it contains all the retail files in case they were lost?

it depends on the installer scripts.

for SID 4, you cannot install if you don't have the backup, and you cannot uninstall.

why??

To install it you must have backup for virtual drive, and for unstalling later if.

To Uninstall..........well, how can you uninstall a softmod without a backup, if you run it, you'll uninstall alright, but you'll end up with no files, leading to error 13, 14, SID is meant to prevent this stuff, so you cannot Uninstall without proper backup, to avoid errors.

Don't worry about asking, i like it when ppl ask, but make sure you read before asking questions, when i see ppl asking questions to stuff that's already been discussed or answered on major threads, i really don't like answering, cause i know it will lead me to a person who is careless, and low comprehension capabilities. So image what can i spect to help someone who's asks stuff that's already in the manual, or the Release Thread.......nothing bot a headache......how this, how that, and i'll just say, please read.

I've already blocked few ppl that are like this. Gus872 (or something), is one of these ppl i mention, he asks over and over of things that were clarified to the max extent, so i stopped helping, cause he's never gonna get it anyways.

Well back to topic..........wait, I answered it. Razz

Nknave.

Being a v1.6, you will have to burn it to DVD-R, because 1.6's don't read CD-Rs.
When burning the iso, just use DVD Decrypter, Nero etc (but be sure to burn in ISO mode, not data!) and you should be fine.[/quote]

you may also burn CD-RW.

I Have a 1.1 and a 1.6, both read Memorex CD-RW, and Memorex DVD-R.
