just try a +R disc if you are having problems with a -R backup. It might make all the difference in the world. So far this past week I have made 7 backups...all initially on -R media. 4 worked just fine and 3 only worked after wasting a few -R's and then using a +R. _________________ XBOX v1.6:

if you have an xbox 1.6 like your sig says, you have the ultimate dvd-r/+r dvd rom drive, all dvd media should work.
mb it's your burning speed.
but let me tell you something.
Using a DVD+R, might work for that xbox, but it wont' work for others, so far the DVD-R that works on all xbox versions is the Memorex DVD-R, this used to happen to me with other DVD-R brands, like Imation, they suck, but Imation DVD+R works on all 3 xboxes that don't have Samsung Drive.
I know it's all funny.
burn at 2x or 4x, never go fastest unless it's the AID disc. Ever get that error from a burning program that states.
Error writting at desired speed, source is slower than target.
This means that you tried to burn a cd/dvd at, let's say 8x, but the iso file only supported up to 4x, so the read and write lost connection (this could also be the onscreen error) therefor you burn discs half way and trash them.
anyways, is good you posted your personal results, i just happen to explain some things a little.

so you're saying that Imation is the worst? that's probably my problem then. I am using STAPLES brand DVD+R's and -R's and they are manufactured by imation. So Memorex is the best huh? I'll keep that in mind and buy them when they go on sale. _________________ XBOX v1.6:

yup, Memorex is best.
those imation discs gave me way to many errors, like calibration, lost connection to drive, that read/wirte speed thing i mentioned, cannot write to media, media is corrupt, but the DVD+R work, and they are good, just that samsung drives won't read them, so go Memorex DVD-R, make sure you just burn at 2x or 4x.

I have a prob...i just backed up a copy of unreal championship 2 to a memorex dvd-rw 1x.2x disc. The cds are 4.7gigs and unreal is about 2.2gigs. I burned it at the slowest speed using dvd decrypter and the game will only play sometimes. I played for about an hr or so last nite and today i cant get it to wrk. Should i have filled out the cd with a dummy file? And if so, can someone tell me how to do that?? I have a dummy file thas 2gigs but i dnt kno wat to do with it. I have a Phillips dvd drive. When I try to play the game the dvd drive will make a weird clicking noise. Thanks guys

you shouldnt need a dummy file. re create the ISO again and burn real slow.

im using dvd+r and i gots an xbox 1.0...however they dont work...havent got to try the -r yet because my burners old..i just replaced my broken one with this one....so i cant do backups any longer by burning, If anyone knows a configuration that i could use in order to get the +r's to work...i would appreciate it.
