I was wondering how an ATA cable could actually make a difference and that part was obvious. 33 MB/s Vs. 66 or even 100 (maybe) MB/s makes sense....faster speed.
Then comes the "uncut" cable theory which I don't know which rocket scientist came up with the whole "uncut" thing...I personally have never heard of a 79 wire/40 pin connector...what I have seen is Pin 20 (on a connector) being blocked. But here's the thing with that...still 80 wire, but 39 pins on each connector. Now, there are also 80 wire/40 pin cables, but then it comes back to the hard drive...Most hard drives that are ATA 66/100/133 don't even have pin 20...take a look at your HD....it more than likely doesn't have it. So either way....if you wanna use a cable...you can use a "cut" cable for it.....just my 2 cents.
