there's too many out there, and there's solder and solder-less options too.
the only chip i ever used and has it's ways with user friedly options has to be.
SmartXX v2 (i had a 1.6b, with lpc solder board, and pin header install).
there are other chips that i hear good things about and that might be cheaper, but might be harder for newbs like you to flash bios onto chip.
but it's up to you.

I personally have used and recommend the Xenium Ice for solderless connections and superior performance. _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Once again I find myself in the awkward situation of having to agree with Shark2th. Xenium is in my opinion the best. _________________

Instead of having to solder the extremely small and compact pins in to the open pins on the motherboard, it has a base that you put the chip in to and conveniently using a well placed screw that the xbox comes with, simply screws right in to the motherboard.

I believe it took me all of 20 mins to install, including the taking apart and putting together of the xbox. _________________

Easily.
There are tutorials that are step by step on the site.
It walked me through my first mod and I (like Enigma) had my box modded in under 30 min.
No one here saw me asking anyone what the hell to do.
I didn't come here and sign up as a member until after my box was modded.
The caviat is that you must follow the directions.
If not, you'll be here asking WTF? So read BEFOREyou even purchase. Get an idea as to what steps you will need to do, then just do it step by step as the tutorial says and you should be fine. (deja vu, page one, post nine) _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th
