I was trying to find out.......two things...
1. is it possible to play a game ISO from the harddrive......(heard from someone else it was possible)
2. is there a homebrew app that will allow me to have some sort of jukebox working while I play games?
thanks...in advance..

Maybe I am no help but as far as I know an .iso file is the CD/DVD image that your 'Burning Software' uses to make the Xbox DVD or CD. Once burned the result is no longer an iso but the regular files of the game on the DVD in the proper format, whatever.
When you dump the XBOX game to xbox hard drive or PC it is also not an ISO either but you can play it this way off the hard drive. It is real easy to open an ISO so it can run from the hard drive but it would not be an ISO any more.
To my knowledge, there is not something that plays ISO's directly off the XBOX hard drive. The cxboxtool does ISO extraction, ISO creation, FTP to and from PC to XBOX among other things. There are other tools here on xbox-hq that may help.
Well, you may know everything I just said but if not I hope this helps.
I don't know of the jukebox thing. I have not seen anything that does this but what a cool thing that would be.

first of all, no, an iso is useless. extracted folders are what you need. (so keep qwix or cxboxtool on your pc.) Second, no, it's not possible to play music and games (through a custom jukebox progie.) Here's why (and also why you can't run a game iso/folder through your network.) The Xbox is not a multitasker. It can only run one batch of code at a time. (hense why you can't copy a game disc via UnleashX and browse your file manager/play emulators) To have two programs (one game and one homebrew) you would need to be able to run two Bioses as at the same time essentially. Once the game loads, the bios loads the info the code gives, kills network connections, etc... The retail bios is set to do this, and most hacked bioses are just not capable.
My friend and I are working on getting two bioses to run at the same time (to play games over the network for one) so we will also look into getting a program like that running as well. But your best bet is to wait for the 360 which will do just that. Plug your USB player (or PSP ) into the 360, and stream your mp3/wma media while playing your games. SWEET!!! I hope this could answer some of your questions, bro. For now, just find games that support custom soundtracks, or use a separate audio channel on your stereo and kill the in game music. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

Complex tools can extract your iso on the xbox for you, straight to file form as well, (does the iso and the rar) You can also set it up so you can lisen to your music while you wait.

Typical response I'd expect from a NH person... You know it's weak when 5 states have one team... Anywho, yeah, I might be in MI, but I'm still born and raised South Jersey/Phili. Yeah, buddy. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."
Wrong. Using a bios that was patched with NKPatcher v8 or later would allow you to mount ISO files using NKPatchers attach.xbe, here's what they say:
Source: Xbins.org wrote:
* Virtual disc attacher
This is the file automatically created by the ISO backup utility and is also contained in component\attach.xbe. When this xbe is run it will attach all files with .iso extension in the same directory in alphabetical order using an nkpatcher 8 system call. In case there are several .iso files in the directory, these are assumed to be parts of the same big ISO file. Since Xbox FATX file system has a file size limitation of 4 GB, big ISO files need to be sliced into smaller parts. The ISO backup utility will do this automatically.
After attachement, this program will quick reboot the system. If the attached ISO image contains a default.xbe in it's root directory, the kernel will execute it as is usual. Running the attacher on game ISO images will therefore launch the game.
So it is very possible to play games from the iso files, but dont ask me how to recompile/update nkpatcher, I've been trying to find it out myself.

ok, so the easiest way is to just extract/upload or viceversa with Quix or CXboxTool _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."
