I softmodeded my Xbox. All is well with 8 gig drive. I am trying to upgrade the drive using the pc method. I am using xboxhdm tools to do it per the Auto Installer Deluxe tutorial. The problem I have is when I try and lock the drive. xboxhdm can not see the eeprom file I have on the cd. I have also tried putting it on a floppy with no success.
I am getting the eeprom by using Config Magic. The tutorial mentions Evox but I could not find anything on Evox other than "Backup" which I have run. The tutoral states the backup eeprom will be on the E drive but just using the Evox backup function does not give me anything. Config Majic does give me a backup on the E drive.
So I have been using the eeprom backup from Config Magic, rename eeprom and have been installing it into eeprom folder in the iso. When the program runs it cannot find it.
What am I doing wrong???????????/

One post only please, duplicats complicate things when folks are trying to answer you and you might miss the one thing that is the correct answer because it's on the other thread.
OK Softmod gurus, what say you?? _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

What's with the "rename eeprom"? It needs to be called eeprom.bin
boot xboxhdm and select option 1. then 6- generate hard drive key, 7 make dos floppy with hd lock/unlock tools. reboot xboxhdm, select option 3 type in lockhd -a, or hdlock -a <<I don't remember which way it goes.
that's it.

The rename of the eeprom is from the backup Config Magic makes. Configmagic call's it eeprombackup.bin. I renamed it to eeprom. The system sees it as a binary filke so I assume .bin extension is intact.
I tried what you suggested and I still have the same issue. It cannot see my eeprom file on the cd. This is my issue.
So maybe I am creating the eeprom backup incorrectly. How should I do that?
Thanks,
Bob
