Hi, just got my xbox today, mod-chipped and upgraded with a 120gig hard drive, the trouble I'm having is that not all my games will run from the hard drive (Burnout 3, TOCA Race Driver 2, Conflicy Vietnam, Top Spin etc) however loads of others will (Crazy Taxi 3, Rapla Fishing, Silent Hill 4, DOA volleyball etc).
Am I doing something wrong do you think or is this a common problem? is it just that some games will boot from the hard drive and some wont?
Any advice would be really appreciated, look forward to posting a bit more when I have half a clue!!!

Hey Jim,
Are you backing up from originals or downloading from net? If you are backing up from originals what backup app are you using?
If you are dowloading, then the game probably needs patched.

I actually brought these games from a reputible backup dealer and then run fine from disk, just not from the hard drive???? how do I go about patching if this is what's needed?
If I get an original game can I install that to my hard drive and run it or does this only work with backups?
Any ideas anybody????
Cheers guys,
By the way I have a duo-x modchip fitted if this helps!

If you are using PxHDD Loader or DVD2Xbox to rip the games from the disk to your HD then those apps should be patching them for you.
I have never had to patch a game, so I am not too versed in it. PxHDD loader has successfully backed up every game I have thrown at it.

Hmmm, using TOP SPIN as an example, I've installed it with both PxHDD Loader and DVD2Xbox, when I go to run the game it just pauses for a few secs and then relaunches the dashboard, doesnt actually load the game???

Hi,
It hasnt been patched correctly if it returns to the dashboard when you try and launch it from the xbox hdd.
Download th ADR Patch data too..
You will need to load the .data file into the ADR PATCHER program.. Its very simple.. Then ftp only the default.xbe from your game to the pc and patch it.. then ftp the patched file back
btw. im very surprised dvd2xbox doesnt work.. Maybe you have to upgrade your version of dvd2xbox _________________ Xbox v1.1

Thanks for the advice, will try that out, I'm actually a bit confused by dvd2xbox as it asks where you want to install the games which I'm never too sure about so I use pxhdd more than dvd2xbox, is dvd2xbox the better of the two?
Also, I have downloaded some emulators and roms, how can/where do install these so they appear in my emulators menu on the dashboard???
Thanks so much for your help guys _________________ X-Box with Duo-X ModChip

Larger HDD: (120gb)
You have a 120gb HDD in your XBOX so you have a F:\ partition..
I would install all your games to f:\games so that evox will automatically add them to the menus.
Retail HDD:
If you only had a RETAIL HDD say 10gb or less you would only have a E:\ Parition on your XBOX.. You would have to install your games using DVD2XBOX on e:\Games.

They have to be installed into the F:\Apps\Emulators directory.. Just make a folder for each emulator you want to install..
Try the XBOXHQ EMULATOR Auto Installer.. It has 20 emus in it and you only need to burn the DVDR/CDRW and boot in your xbox. Thats the easiest way..

PxHDD loader tends to be an easier program to use, but when I run across a game that doesn't backup properly then I go with DVD2Xbox and it seems to work fine.
I finally got to the point to backup some of my games on HD to disk (last night) and I just ran into a few that won't work too. So, I am in the same boat and will be trying DVD2Xbox or patching them manually. I have already burned two coasters.

just had a tip to try running the game in ntsc instead of pal (via system settings on evo dash) and it worked with TOP SPIN! worth a try m8 _________________ X-Box with Duo-X ModChip

where do you chance this setting? Can't seem to find it on evo dash.

go to system settings near the bottom of the dash menu, then go to the bottom of the next one, think it might be system setting again or something similar, go down and you'll find a bit saying PAL then underneath will either say AUTO or DEFAULT - change this one to NTSC and give it a try.
This only worked on TOP SPIN for me but maybe changing to some other regions will do the trick with other games? _________________ X-Box with Duo-X ModChip
