Hey guys!

As some might know, my Xbox is dead, it boots to error 5, and ive done a hotswap, but no hoswap is good unless you have your eeprom backed up.

I'm soon buying an Xbox with a faulty dvd drive from eBay, so I will just swap it for my good DVD drive. If i do so, will there be any errors showing up? Because it will just be another dvd drive, and i think mine is samsung, and the one freom the Xbox i will buy wont read the discs, I will just swap it for mine, is that going to make any sence to the motherboard? Any errors? Because I dont want to take the risk of spending 60 dollars on a faulty DVD xbox that will show errors if i change the DVD drive. I might as well stay without an Xbox rather than risk.

And finally, here comes the big question, what can i sell out of my Xbox and rip somebody off on eBay or somewhere else? I can't sell the DVD drive because I will be using it for the Xbox I will buy. And how much can I charge the people for the stuff i sell? How much will I gain? Do I sell the items as Buy It Now, or Highest Bid? Please somebody tell me, because I spent $200 on this Xbox, and i want to gain at least $150 out of it.

Thank you in advance guys,

exyBoxy

Dude,

I dont wanna sodler it, because I might eff it up. Besides, I will sell the parts of this one and cover for the one I will buy that does not read discs. Also, Ill have to buy a solderless adapter additionally if I buyu a chip, so ya, I'd rather go witha broken Xbox.

Do you guys think that If i change the DVD drive on an Xbox with a faulty DVD drive if it will show any errors? Or I just turn it on and voila, boots fine?

there will be no errors, the dvd drive will work fine. but its really simple to fix the dirty disc error anyway. so I wouldnt get rid of your other dvd drive.

Well sure thats a point but....the chip has saved me so much that I wouldn't even mess with a softmod, hotswapping...good god man...lol. You could have everything done buy a chipper for 40 bucks thats cheaper then a xbox buy hey.... it is a easy fix too so you will have two boxs now Very Happy

Yep, I will have 2 Xboxses, I payed for the one on eBay.

All in all, it cost me $66, so yeah, its a sweet deal considering the other faulty ones that sell for much more.

I want to thatnk you BOSWARTIG for the post telling me it will not show any errors or problems if the motherboard senses a change of a DVD drive. I will also soon buy another DVD drive, or perhaps fix the one that comes with the new Xbox I bought, and I will be buying a chip. I will soon advance my knowledge to a soldering level, and I will solder a mod chip, as soon as I have enough money for it.

To some people, the imagine me as some mature guy considering the way I type. I try to make it as easy to read as possible and I choose the most formal words I can think of, and yet, I'm only 14.

Lol Mol Shmol,

Thank you guys, the HQ members DID IT AGAIN!

You can sell anything you want...

Sell the controller ports, sell the motherboard, sell the fan, sell the case..sell the eject/power board.

Or, you can just sell the machine as a broken Xbox.

Choice is yours.
