Sorry, I should have also made it clear that "USB Storage" is the memory card. One other weird thing, The previous screenshot was with a Xbox brand controller (a white, see-through controller S) and this one with a DreamGear. Doesn't seam to make a difference for the card though.

The other pics are of all the stuff I'm using.

Oh ok, that explains ... still it is strange because I get some more information in System Profiler for my Action Replay card. Particularly it shows the "BSD name" (same as "Disk Identifier" which is the term Disk Utility uses).

Do you get the message "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" when you plug in the card? I get his when connecting the AR. It means OSX can access the card alright, it just doesn't understand the Xbox file system that's on it. It gives it a BSD name anyway for accessing the raw memory contents of the card.

I have managed to softmod my Xbox! Cool I have made images of the AR card with all of the different SID Loaders + Installer on them. This makes it easy for Mac users to flash one of the images to another AR card. The only question now is how do I best distribute these? Zipped up, they're 20MB. Could this be added to the next update pack for AID?

I am also finishing the guide now btw. Two things I am still wondering about:
- How to properly back up the EEPROM. Please see my question here on a problem I had ...
- I seem to have had a serious problem with installing EvoX. Was really scary the first time, thought I had blown it all up Shocked See question here.

I plan on doing another full release soon, instead of just an update. I'd be more than happy to include these for you, including the tutorial that will follow it.

Ok, I will just post them here temporarily then.

For anyone who can't wait for the guide, here are instructions on how to use them (the guide will include a longer description with pictures):

- Download the .xmci.gz you need, decompress it to get the .xmci (Safari will do this automatically) and put it in your home folder.
- Plug AR into your Mac. You will get a message saying you inserted a disk MacOSX can't read. Just click Ignore.
- Open Disk Utility, select the AR in the list of disks, click Info in the toolbar. In the info window it says "Disk Identifier: diskX" where X is some number.
- Open Terminal. Type "cat FILE > /dev/DISK" where you replace FILE with the name of the .xmci (not .xmci.gz!) you put in your home folder, and DISK with the disk identifier. Make sure you use the right disk identifier, this will wipe the contents of whatever disk it identifies!!! There is NO warning when executing the command! You won't see anything happening while it is executing, after a few minutes you just get another command prompt.
- Open Disk Utility again, select the AR. Click Eject in the toolbar. You can now safely unplug the AR from your Mac.

Note: I only have Splinter Cell (PAL), so I have not tried any of the other images ... if you use them, let me know if they work for you ...

EDIT: Files temporarily taken down, and will be moved to an appropriate section soon...

Here's an image of the Action Replay card in its original out-of-the-box state, might also be useful:

You know, you should be able to fit all the loaders + the main sid 3.1 exploit on one memory card, why so many different versions?

I've removed these downloads temporarily, and hopefully you should be able to do this. If not, I'll put them up again.

BTW, would be great if you could do a SID 4.5 version too Smile

I tried putting them all on the card, but I couldn't get the PAL and NTSC loaders for Splinter Cell on at the same time. I used one of the Advanced Options in AID to put the SID3.1 saves on my Xbox HD. Then I used the Xbox dashboard to copy them to the AR. When I copied the PAL version and then tried to copy the NTSC version, it said it was going to overwrite a save on the card. If you have another way to do it using just AID ... (I don't have access to a PC anymore now ...)

PS: DJB, I don't know if you know the answer to my EEPROM backup question, but if you do, I would greatly appreciate a reply, really worried I don't have a proper EEPROM and BIOS backup now Sad Even after reading a lot of posts here, I still don't really understand if installing nkpatcher changes anything in the EEPROM/BIOS Confused and since I only made the EEPROM backup after applying it ...

Forgot to mention: I also tried using AID to install SID3.1 directly to the card instead of the HD first, but when I copy "007" and then "MechAssault", the copy process always locks up. (I assumed because the Installer is already on the card. I tried copying 007 using SID, then use MS dashboard to remove the Installer from the card, but keeping the 007 loader, then use AID to install SID3.1 MechAssault. That did work and gave me the two loaders + the installer on the card. But it still didn't work for getting both PAL and NTSC of Splinter Cell on the card at the same time)

Yes you are correct, maybe two versions of the save would be more approriate, PAL and NTSC.

This is what I'd LOVE to see:

SID 3.1 PAL image
SID 3.1 NTSC image
SID 4.5 PAL image
SID 4.5 NTSC image

That way all Mac users are covered for each install.

Just to go into more explination:

The 007, Mechassault, and Splinter Cell files are merely loaders to the main Installer. Yes, Splinter Cell NTSC and PAL are in the same locations, and unfortunately you can only use one per memory card.

So, here's the idea:

On one memory card, put this:

Installer - Splinter Cell (PAL) - Mechassault - 007

and then on the other

Installer - Splinter Cell (NTSC) - Mechassault - 007

Hows this sound??

That sounded good and not too much work, so I thought I'd give it a try. I copied the SID installer + loaders to my Xbox HD using AID. Then I tried to copy the SID installer to the AR card using MS dashboard. It says the installer is too big to fit on there. Huh??? (the card is empty ...) ... I can try via AID again, but after installing one of the SID3.1 installer + one loader combinations I have to boot back to MS dash each time to remove the installer, or installing the next installer + loader combo via AID freezes ...

I'd suggest just sticking to the images I have now (I've also already set up the guide for them now ...), but if you later add an option to the AID advanced menu for putting SID3.1 PAL / SID3.1 NTSC on a mem card, I'll happily make the images again Wink

Success! I burned AID 3 using Disk Utility and it works fine.
Although, I have a Thompson drive so I had to use a DVD-R.
I was able to run AID just fine and your instructions for using the update pack worked great.

Now I just have to work out how to use my memory card and I'm set!

P.S. I'm working on a way to upgrade my Softmod HDD... I'll post here first if it works.

Ok great thanks for confirming! I've also tried burning AID on my own machine and another Mac, and it worked both times (one machine is running OSX 10.4, the other 10.3), so pretty sure it should always work Smile

So are you going to do the HDD upgrade using Xbox + your Mac? Or are are you going to do the Xbox-only method?

I think the HDD upgrade with the Xbox-Only requires a second xbox which is modchipped to program the HDD for the box you want to upgrade.
