First off, Modgod very nicely put. This is the best site to be on for any and all xbox related material.
Most of error 21 with a softmod can be repaired easily with the orginal game used for the exploit. If the game save and linux installer is still on the hard drive you should be able to load the original game and get back to your install menu.

I recieved an xbox that has never been moded or even attempter in any way to have a mod. It started skipping really bad right before it went haywire. start up the box with or without a game and all you get is error 21. I do not have the money to mod it so that is kinda out. Please help guys.

if the xbox is not modded in any way then the hdd has more the likely failed.
Your xbox cannot read the hdd and is giving e21.. The files are corruptd or the hdd itself is dead..
If your xbox is still under warranty i would return it to the place of purchase or call microsoft xbox customer support..
You may be able to still boot games but they wont run correctly,, they will be laggy and not playable.

Ok here's a question for you softmod God's...hehe. I have softmodded about 12-20 here in the last couple of weeks. Then there was the softmod from hell. Maybe you guys can help me out on this one. Here is what I did and what happened step by step so you can tell me what to do from here or what I did wrong or both. The Xbox version is 1.6. Ok I did the hotswap like I always do..... Well it didn't work...came up with error 21. So I put a retail game in the Xbox and hotswaped again....unistalled UDE and made it back to stock. The thing I didn't do is get the eprom.bin file...why...not sure guess was in a hurry. Anyways....so now it's back to stock HD again. So I try the hotswap again....well now it tell's me that some files aren't there. Well I loaded it anyhow to see what the error is and it's 09. Which is something about kernal errors.. So I turned it back into regular stock HD....my question is. How do I get the eprom off the HD.... either with a windows program or whatever...I tried one but couldn't find the right .dll to use the program. Or if anyone can tell me how to get the stock back to normal so I can try the hotswap again with out the errors in it....that would be ok to. Any advice is needed...thanks for your time.
P.S. I have tried the usually passwords TEAMASSEMBLY....XBOXSCENE...etc. Nothing helps.

since your softmodding ive sent a quick email to pirrup our main softmod dude here on hq.. He is a legend with this type of thing and im sure he will have some pointers..

Thanks for time. I app. everything very much. It has been racking my brain for the past week. I even changed computers, IDE cables....everything....not sure what to do next....error 21 on one and loads up with garggle screen on another xbox...

I have learned 2 things from this entire thread>
1: error 21 is a .xbe problem and 2: it always is to do with dashboard problems

If the hdd is dead, it'd make it hard to get a backup of the eeprom, huh?

I just want to say this website is good but u guys cant con people liek that and say hey heres the wesite for the error 21 download file then when we go to get the file charge us 5 buck or 10 bucks if yuore gonna help us help us but dont charge us please u made the website not us dont punish us and make us pay u for ur own website that cost about 5 dollars to host later.

We dont charge per file, its just a membership you pay for to help keep the site running, and lets put it this way, not every thing you expect to be free is going to be just handed to you, it costs alot of money to the sites running. It dont run on fairy dust. _________________
