That's still pretty vague, but I'll offer what I can. I mainly use xbmc to stream the 10 or so gigs of mp3s from my pc to xbox. I was looking for a way to set up a .m3u list in xbmc that would look for mp3s on the smb network, not on the xbox hd. First, I had to make sure that in the xbmc folder (on my xbox) there was folder called "albums" and inside that folder a folder called "playlists." Inside that folder, I took a modified .m3u file (one that I made on my pc) and dropped it in. The original path looked like this:
#EXTINF:174,Fugazi - Song #1
E:\mp3z\F\Fugazi - Song #1.mp3
I modified the paths (just using Find and Replace in Notepad) to look like this:
this means "smb:// your computer name / your shared directory / shared subdirectory (if needed) / file"
btw, the above is NOT a link
I only modified the path, not the #EXTINF line (it changed itself to 0, not sure how or why but they all changed to 0).
This works perfectly now in xbmc for streaming music. The same general principle should work for anything you want to path to. As far as a new version of xbmc goes, there's a pretty new version on this site - since your a VIP you should have no prob getting it...
Good luck!

Thanks for your help soreros. MP3s are probably the only thing I would really ever stream anyway, but that gives me a very good start.

Sorry to somewhat go off the beaten path, but there is soon going to be another way to stream to your xbox with Microsoft Media Extender Kit.
Albeit, you have to have Windows Media Center Edition Operating System on your PC, but anyone like myself who already has this will be able to really do a lot more with their xbox.
You will be able to use your xbox as a tivo machine, recording, pausing, and rewinding Live TV. You will also be able to stream audio and video from your PC right to your xbox.
At this time, MS is advertising a November release. No price has been announced yet. Since I have a few xbox's, modded and stock I am going to be purchasing the Media Center Extender Kit and testing on both types of machines.
