This might be a dump question ? Is chip a softmod or hard ? how can u tell? what the diffance? Anyone know ?

yup, exactly scarecrow540.. Its a hard mod..
A Softmod is only software which is loaded onto the xbox to gain access to run unsigned code which means the xbox can boot homebrew dashboards, emulators and backup dvd-r's etc. With a softmod a hacked bios is run from the hdd.
With a modchip (hard-mod) the modchip enables the xbox to run unsigned code too.. But with a modchip its so much easier to get back your xbox from a error you may encounter while learning to mod.. Its also much quicker to upgrade your hdd using a modchip.
