Man, what a month or two makes in the Dual layer DVD-9 burner market. CompUSA has a MegaSTOR 7-1 (MAD DOG Multimedia) Dual Layer Multi-Formated DVD burner. It's an 8X Speed, which now you see a lot of 16X Dual layers on the market, and can burn DVD+R/RW/-R CRR/RW and is only $99.00 after a $30.00 mail in rebate and $20.00 instant savings.
www.compusa.com is their address. You can order online for shipping or have them hold one at the closest location if you wish.
Oh yeah, it's an EXTERNAL drive too. USB 2.0. Sony has one of these and it's $259.00!!
I like the idea of external cuz you don't have to tear your PC down and you can take it with you to anyone's PC!!!
Now, to go burn Ninja Gaiden on one DVD Disk..woo woo.

Yup, they already do!!
Any DVD that you find, and most xbox games are already on DVD9 Dual Layer disks!!
Otherwise they too wouldn't be able to put over 4.7GB of data or more than 2hrs of MPEG2 on a single disk.
The only bummer is finding DL DVD9 Blank Media..
Best Buy sells something called the Solution Package...it contains 1 DL Disk, 1 DVDRW disk, and 8 DVD+R's!
The only solution I can think of for that is it takes $25 out of my wallet!!
Still looking for someone who sells DL Disks in house. Compusa says they are going to be stocking in October. Best Buy says the same. They have been offering the drives for months, as I got an internal one eons ago (for 199.00 I may add) and I always wanted an external one, but there were $239.00 and higher. So, I found a buyer for my internal and went and got the external today. Since I've played Rallisport Challenge 2, I'm aware it can read DL disc. Man! That's a big game! What concerns me is that my understanding is that retail discs are pressed not burned... will the DVD drive read BURNED discs.
Can it read them????? Hope So!

I have a Thompson Drive laying here, and a Phillips too!
I'll experiment with them and see if they read the DL disks. My samsung does...so it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm guessing they'll read it, too. But before I invest in one, I'd like to know that they work!
I can't seem to make back-up DVDs that work... bad media? I've tried Memorex, Maxell, Sony..... coasters, coasters, and more coasters! Maybe I'm doing it wrong! It IS a Thompson , though! _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room
