hi...

sometimes i make dvdr backups of movies and i want to put them into my xbox to watch them from the xbox harddrive but if the file is 4 gig+ then it will not be downloaded to my xbox. why is that?

for example:

i backedup a movie that was 4.4 gig
when i uploaded to my xbox via ftp (flash fxp) it said "complite" but it was not complete.

it showed up that it was only 3.90 gig uploaded to the xbox. i tried with another movies and still same, i have 300 gig hdd in the xbox and i uploaded lots of stuff to my xbox without probs but why now?

Check your hdd partitions.
You may be trying to save to the e: partition which is a little bigger than 4 gigs. Save them to the f: or g: patitions.

Thought this was pretty normal with FATX formatting? It's like that on my pc with my external hard drive as well.

As far as I know all versions of FAT have problems with large files, I'm thinking that limit is at the 4gb mark. This would explain why it wouldn't work, not sure of an easy way to put them on other than taking them out of the iso that you made and just uploading the individual files.

I convert all my movies to .avi or divx. You can convert a 4gig dvd to a 700mb avi file.Quality is still good and you save alot of space on your hdd.

its single files over 4 g's that won't work. if you rip a game or dvd to the hdd it doesn't get ripped as a single iso. none of the indiviual files are over 4g

Is this on XBMC?

Because there has been some history of it not accepting 4gig+ files. It must be a stupid design feature, but weirdly, it plays games over 4 gig, so it has to be inbuilt in the Dash.

Try using a DivX converter and make them smaller but still keeping their quality.
